Ummm.. Oh Kei

I don't know what has happened today.

Yesterday I lost about 80 percent of the game I played and dropped over 300 points from Champion 2 to almost falling out of Champion 3. And today, I have added about 580 points to get into Champion 1. And, I wasn't playing bunnies either, but a lot of the lineups I faced were pretty amateur, from people who I normally struggle against.

Strange.

This is the first time in Champion 1 in a long time, but even in 33rd position on 4310 points, I am still nowhere near the top of Champion, because there are some accounts with a full seven hundred points more than me. I started from Diamond 1, but it is crazy how many points some people have accumulated. With 80% win rates across so many accounts, playing against high level accounts, it really should raise some questions.

Speaking of...

One thing that they should have done with the release of the new points system, was reset everyone in the same league back to the same starting point, based on their finishing league from last season. For instance, all of the Champion-level accounts could have been restarted in Diamond 1, just for the first round. That way, there would have been a chance for everyone to climb up, rather than having some accounts starting 300 points ahead with a new scoring system in place. After the first season, then it could go to the normal restarts depending on finishing league.

And then there is this:

We are now exactly halfway through the second conflict, with Kei on the line as a reward card for participation. This time around, rather than 200 chances for a guarantee, it is going to require 250. This means that I will end up with about 20 cards, as I added some GFLs recently to max a couple. What was very annoying with the last airdrop with Rage, was out of 22 cards, I didn't get a single Gold Foil.

I was very disappointed.

I ended up selling all of my extras last week and with the proceeds, buying a couple of the "cheap" Gold Foil Legendaries to put onto wagons. I have only sold a couple of cards prior, and the sell of 11 Rage pretty much tripled my sell total.

Kei is an interesting card with the new "Hamstring" ability, which reduces the melee attack by one. The card has Reach and Ambush, and when it gets True strike at L3, it is going to be very interesting. However, I don't know if the Hamstring ability can be cleansed, or if it is like cripple, and sticks. Still, an interesting card that is going to have some pros and cons, as it might hamstring a 5+ attack down to 4, so that it can bash through a forcefield. These days, shatter is an essential ability, so that will come in handy with ambush and true strike, to help prepare a tank for the slaughter, or take the shield off of Grimbardun Smith, before the round even starts.

I am not very good with the tactics I think, but with my win rate today so high, it felt like I am actually okay at this game. It has been a long time since I have had that feeling playing Splinterlands, so it was a nice way to start the weekend.

No, the decisions is, do I keep playing and risk dropping three hundred points down for the start of next season, or try to climb up the ladder? What is interesting is that while there are a few accounts that have streaked away upward, the spread between 1st position and 50th position is

A thousand points.

Seems legit.

Fuck it... I know I will probably keep playing anyway.
