Splinterlands Investment - Day 22 and the problem with Gladius Cards.

Gladius cards are great. Overpowered for what they cost. They are also soulbound so only people who do guild battles get them and the are limited to the arena so can't be used in regular match play. Their bloodlust skill is also pretty useful...most of the time.

I got this guy in today's gladius cards. I see two problems with this card:

problem with gladius.jpg

First: What practical use is bloodlust when a card can't do any damage?

Second: This card doesn't get powerful until lvl's 7 and 10 when it gets magic reflect and counter. However, look at the math on levelling up this card.

Assume you get one gladius pack a week from two brawls. Also assume that there are four common cards given each week. There are 8 common cards in the set so there is a 50:50 chance you'll get this card each week. Also put, one card every second week

So after one year you have 26 cards. Enough for lvl 3.. not very useful.
How long to get 400 cards for lvl 10 -- 15 years!

But what if you want a legendary? 11 are needed to max out the card. Assume 5 cards a week so 260 card a year. Each card has a 0.6% chance of legendary so 1.5 legendary per year or 3 every two years. There are 6 legendary cards so on average it will take four years until you get one of each legendary.
How long to get the 11 cards needed to max a legendary? 44 years!

Just for fun..How about a Golden Legendary? Only 4 are needed but they are 25x more rare. Result: One golden legendary every 17 years! If you get lucky and pull only the golden legendary you want your probably looking at 67 years until you get what you want and probably longer than that!

I understand soul binding the gladius cards but perhaps there should be an alternative way to level them up?

Just my thought.

Haha, 10 years seems totally reasonable to finally benefit from this card. Imagine what the game would look like if it's still around in 10 years.

But seriously, there are a ton of card level-ups in the game that don't make any sense. Unfortunately, I don't think the dev team has the time or manpower to fix the older cards when they're still at the sketch stage for some of the chaos legion cards that are supposedly coming in a few weeks.
