SPS -- Buy now AND/OR regret later...hmmm....Land and Riftwatchers ARE coming ;)

You have probably heard the saying

It's always darkest before the dawn

there is also a competing saying:

It's always darkest before it goes totally black

I don't know where SPS price is going but it has been a wild ride so far and right now seems to be its nadir. Which leaves the question: Where does it go from here?

I really wish I knew.

On the pessimist side

There are a lot of SPS out there which are being thrown away for free to DEC holders and SPS stakers. They do get vouchers but those vouchers will be considerably less useful after the second round of Chaos pack sales. After that they still give vouchers but of nebulous value because we don't know what they will be useful for in the future.

Personally I expect a lot of staked SPS to be sold off in the near term to fund the sale of a bunch of Chaos packs before the second sales round ends. I believe that will be putting a huge downward pressure on the price of SPS.

However

On the optimist side

Land is coming and the developers have said that SPS will play a huge role in the usage of land. I wish things were more concrete than just their say so, however, it certainly sounds promising.

and also..

Riftwatchers packs are coming too. I hadn't really even heard of them until today's update. However, it will be a mini-set which can only be purchased with $5 worth of SPS tokens. With the flood of Chaos cards right now people might be thinking: Why on earth would I want Riftwatcher packs? Well, its a mini-set like Dice so limited number of added cards.

But why is limited number important? Because limited number of cards means high percentage of getting a card in the set. If it is like DICE where summoner cards are rare it means that every pack has a high chance of getting a summoner card! That might not seem like a big deal but those summoners are HUGE in trying to get to upper tier battles. Look at the price of Chaos summoners vs regular rares and you can see their value.

In the end I don't know where SPS is going. Buy now and you certainly may end up regretting it. Buy now and you may also find that you got a steal of a deal once Land and Riftwatchers are making them far more valuable.
