Shadow Snitch - Share Your Battle! Challenge

First challenge of the week!
Theme and card of the week is Shadow Snitch

Thoughts: Shadow Snitch was a card I thought was just okay at best, well at least in this current meta and amongst the ranks I am playing at. It has decent health, however it only has 1 melee attack which is not remarkable. Using Shadow Snitch against Death Thorns decks was not really viable and there were better choices to put in your deck too.

Attacks won't miss. Abilities like evade or flight or phase won't give any advantage. Similarly de-buff like Blind will be rendered useless.

Mana cost: 23

Usable elements: Water, Earth, Life, Death, Dragon

Team Composition

Role: Summoner

The meta summoner himself. With a (-1) to both enemy Magic Attack and Health, just by putting this summoner out will probably bring you at least more than 50% chance of winning an Earth magic deck. It is generally the better summoner to use for a Death deck with its versatile (-1) to enemy Health.

Role: Tank

The first in position and pretty much the main pick of any Death decks. With good stats all around, slapping down the Thorns ability makes it the optimal pick for a Tank.

Role: Secondary Tank, Reach

Our card of the week, seems to be more useful as a secondary tank, with low Attack and Speed, while having decent Health. Put this down hoping not to be put against a Death Thorns deck. If it isn't then this card will be a pesky one for the opponent.

Role: Gap

A card more to be used as a gap between the Tank and the Damage Dealer or to be used as the Backline Guard for one or two attacks. It was picked to fill the 1 mana leftover.

Role: Damage Dealer

A pretty cheap damage dealer that still dishes out good damage if placed well and survives long enough to cause a dent in the opponent's team. It is also good to have a non-melee card in the case where we meet cards with Thorns.

Role: Secondary Damage Dealer, Sneak

This is a good card in my opinion. With pretty good all around stats along with the Sneak ability, if not dealt with quickly, it will create havoc and clear out the Backline Hitters on the opposing team.

Play by play

> Round 1:

Start of the battle. My opponent, too, used up all 23 mana to put out Summoner Obsidian (4) leading the Failed Summoner (2), Mycelic Morphoid (1), Regal Peryton (5), Goblin Psychic (6), Khimer Princess (2) and a Child of the Forest (3) in corresponding order.

Regal Peryton, being one of the 2 fastest in the battle, struck Cursed Windeku with only 1 damage, due to Thaddius Brood's (-1) Magic Attack effect. Child of the Forest took a shot at Soul Strangler for 1 damage due to his ability Snipe.

Cursed Windeku struck down on the Failed Summoner, bringing him down to 1 HP. Silent Sha-vi backstabbed Child of the Forest, taking him out before he deals more damage. Soul Strangler then finished off Failed Summoner before the enemy team could pull out a heal.

Khimer Princess, Goblin Psychic and Mycelic Morphoid took a shot at Windeku for a total of 4 damage. However, Windeku's Thorns ability activated for Morphoid, causing some retaliation of 2 damage, taking out Morphoid from the board. Shadow Snitch then made its move, taking off the first Health from Regal Peryton.

> Round 2:

Peryton starts the round off again, making Windeku's HP go to 3. Windeku takes his counterattack back to Peryton, leaving him at 2 HP. Silent Sha-vi quickly removes Khimer Princess from the field with his Sneak abilities. Soul Strangler then takes down the pesky Peryton with ranged attacks.

The Goblin Psychic is left to take the frontline with no backup. Shadow Snitch also takes his turn to torment the Psychic with the Reach ability, leaving him at 1 HP.

> Round 3:

It is a sad look as Goblin Psychic is left alone with also 1 Health left to fight 5 other enemies.

Windeku gives the final hit to finish the battle.

Strategy Talk

Since I was already doing the Death quest for my dailies, it became another attempt for me to try the challenge out again. I was having difficulties trying to put Shadow Snitch in my teams as I often found other cards to have a higher success rate or I just don't know a good deck to make use of Shadow Snitch properly.

Looking at the opponent's history, I was unsure of which deck I could optimally choose to try counter his decks as the opponent did not play the same few decks. When I notice Earth decks were not banned in the ruleset, I will try to use Death decks as I feel there was a high chance the opponent would pick it otherwise. Hence I just went along with my daily quest. I played the meta Summoner - Thaddius Brood and the meta card - Cursed Windeku, which is very likely to be the main causes of my opponent (Earth deck user)'s downfall in this battle.

In this battle, I tried to challenge myself a bit, trying to use more melee instead of the ranged damage dealers I always try to stuff in, hence how I came up with this lineup I brought to the battle.

Shadow Snitch was a card I had wanted to make more use of. I had also previously wanted to play more of this card due to my success with Fineas Rage, or even the newer Radiated Brute. However, it doesn't seem to work the same way in the Death decks as they do not have the Summoner to buff melee attacks. Thus, now it is more of a card that stays in my storage unless I have the need for a secondary tank or so.

To pull out more potential from Shadow Snitch, it would be good to put down a card who increases allies' melee attack, I am unsure whether Death decks owns this kind of card but it would be very useful, especially for Reach ability users.

Thanks for reading!

It was fun to revisit this card again as I had been wanting to make more use of it. We keep on going. Cheers.
