SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! WOOD NYMPH
First time trying this out! Theme and card of the week is Wood Nymph
Thoughts: This is a card/monster which I had found to be essential to Earth themed decks before the Chaos Legion update. The Wood Nymph basically started out my renting of cards as I can't seem to win without it back in the days. Now that a new Earth healer came about, the Wood Nymph's usability dropped a ton.

Noxious fumes: All monsters start the battle poisoned. (Monsters will take 2 true damage at the end of each round) |
Mana cost: 16
Usable elements: Earth, Dragon
Team Composition
The only summoner choice for an Earth deck without renting any other ones. Wizard of Eastwood (-2 Armor) provides little value to a battle with Noxious Fumes. Obsidian provides our little healer a small damage boost.
Role: Tank
The first in position and the likely choice in a probable Earth VS Earth deck matchup. With a high HP of 10, the Unicorn Mustang provides a good chance of surviving Noxious fumes. Not to mention, it provides Magic Damage Reduction, which counters the Magic Damage monsters/cards Earth deck users tend to send out.
Role: Healer
The card of the week and the only card to choose when you are left with 4 mana. This is a rented Level 1 Wood Nymph. With low speed and low HP, you should hope the opponent somehow does not have Snipe or Sneak. Either way, it should die after the first round ends, however hopefully not without managing to pull out a heal on our Unicorn and dishing some damage.
Play by play
> Round 1:
Start of the battle. My opponent, too, used up all 16 mana to put out Mycelic Morphoid (1), Regal Peryton (5) and the Goblin Psychic (6). This was the fight between the OG healer and the current go-to healer.
The Unicorn took out the dear 1 mana fodder real quick and got peppered by the 2 remaining Magic Damage Dealers. With Magic Damage Reduction in effect, there was not much to fear. Once the Unicorn took the brunt of the damage, with no Snipe, Sneak, etc., The Wood Nymph was free to heal Unicorn and dealt some damage before fading out.
> Round 2:
Noxious Fumes did its trick and done in our card of the week. Now remains only the Unicorn and the opponent's magic damage dealers. With the Unicorn's health at 8 while the opponent's at 1 or 2, victory is assured and what's left was to let the poison finish them off.
> Round 3:
The board is cleared and our sole survivor, the Unicorn Mustang holds on with 3 health to being us victory.
Strategy Talk
With low mana requirements and only 2 types of elements available for play, deck building was simple and we can easily predict what the enemy would pull out. Against the high likelihood of a Magic Damage deck, Unicorn Mustang carried me throughout the battle as the perfect piece to play.
Wood Nymph had been fun to use and would have been useful if somehow the opponent manage to pull out a little more damage. However. in a battle with Noxious Fumes, the usage of a low health healer probably did not do wonders. It is likely you could do with a Khimer Princess (2) and another 2 mana cost damage dealer in this scenario.
It would have been interesting to see how a Failed Summoner would have worked in this scenario, replacing the Unicorn and hence adding more Magic Damage Dealers on the board.
Thanks for reading!
It was fun to revisit this card again as I had lost faith in it for a while. We keep on going. Cheers.
