[ Time Mage ] - Share Your Battle! Weekly Challenge (2)

My second challenge of the week!
The theme and card of the week is Time Mage.

Thoughts: This is a card I often see other Life deck players use. It is not a card that I am able to fully grasp its usage of, but I do believe it is still a good card nonetheless.

It reminds me of the Creeping Ooze that was used before the Chaos Legion update. Except that this comes along with magic attack as well.

For this challenge, all cards are at level 1.

In my first attempt at the challenge (https://ecency.com/hive-13323/@tertius/time-mage-share-your-battle), I did a rather low mana run. This time, I am going to share a mid to high mana cost run.

Team Composition

Role: Summoner

A pretty decent summoner that gives a (+1) HP to all ally monsters. This does allow for a more versatile pick to allow for a generally more beefy team.

Role: Tank

The first in position, a good and cheap card that emphasises on tanking. With pretty good health and armour stats for a 3 mana cost card, you can count on it to tank a number of hits. Especially useful in a low mana cost team.

Role: Magic Attacker, Debuff (Slow)

A pretty good card with decent speed and health. It also acts as a utility card with her Slow ability, slowing the enemy team, which may be crucial.

Had to place her second as there were other cards I wish to keep alive longer.

Role: Opportunity

A cheap card which has the Opportunity ability to hit low health enemies from any position. She is good to target those glass cannon damage dealers.

Role: Buffer (Protect)

A pretty decent card which has the Protect ability. This allows all allies to have (+2) armour, which, combined with Mother Khala, gave the lineup a lot of survivability.

Role: Ranged Attacker (Damage Dealer)

An excellent damage dealer that is able to strike twice, a good pick to use together with a General Sloan summoner which I am not using now.

I placed him near the back to keep him alive as long as possible

Role: Backline Hitter, Sneak

A rather decent card as it has 2 melee attack damage and the ability Sneak. I was thinking of using Uraeus before seeing this card.

Placed it at the back as it can hit from anywhere and it also has an okay amount of HP to shield against some backstabs.

Strategy Talk

I was really lucky in this battle, with the card of the week too! (in Round 2)

Looking at the opponent's history, I noticed him playing with mainly Life decks, with one or two Death and Water decks. I just tried to take the challenge to him, hoping to get a mirror match.

In this battle, I tried to focus on the survivability of my team in general, adding Mother Khala and a Truthspeaker. I then prioritised the backline hitters, keeping them at the back. Unfortunately, my debuffer had to be second as there were other cards I wish to preserve.

I had triumphed today with my lineup. I think in this battle, Time Mage had great impact in the battle. Since it was a mirror matchup, I think it did a lot to mirror the debuffs also. With that one round where she dodged like 3 attacks, it certainly earned me my win.

I think that in this battle, other than being really lucky with Time Mage's dodges, I believe my choice of a Sneak card had a lot of impact by clearing out the backline hitters on the enemy team. By making my team really beefy, it gave the Stitch Leech enough time to clear out the backline.

Time Mage is a great overall card that provides many usages. I think she would be viable in low or even high mana cost decks. It would likely be best if you keep her near the middle or near the back of the lineup to maintain her slow debuff.

Thanks for reading!

It was fun to theorise and also find more ways to play with the card!

We keep on going. Cheers.
