A Simple But Effective Lineup For Bronze

Many players struggle to get out of the bronze league and I understand this a quite well. Sometimes, I drop into bronze at the end of the season and I often struggle a little bit to climb back to silver. There are certain units like Quora and Coastal Sentry that are really good under some conditions and can really help to speed up the crawl out of bronze. I like Quora especially and that is why I voted "No" on the proposal for Gladius Cards to be banned from Bronze League.

Well, still focusing on the bronze league, I want to talk about a strategy that worked surprisingly well in one of my battles. Let's get right into the battle.

Ruleset and Lineup

Summoner: Avina Of The Wolf

I have mentioned in the past that this summoner is one of my favorites from the Rebellion set but I haven't used her very much because I play mostly in silver and gold and the card is expensive to rent at those levels. However, whenever I am down in bronze, I like to use this summoner and in this case, she should work just perfectly. Most times, I prefer to use the +2 speed buff for two monsters but because of the Reverse speed ruleset, it would be really unhelpful to use that buff. Instead, I'll got for the Self heal buff.

Unit 1: Chaos Knight

Magic units are not used a lot in bronze so it is safe a lot of times to have a tank that is sturdy and can defend against melee and ranged attacks. I am hoping this would be the case for this battle and so I have decided to use Chaos Knight as the tank. At level 3 she does not have the Giant Killer just yet but she still has the shield ability. Plus, we would most likely not even need the giant killer considering the mana cap.

Unit 2: Disintegrator

So, I am anticipating that the enemy throws some melee attacks on the field so I have Disintegrator ready to handicap them. Demoralize can be a very powerful ability. Sometimes, you can make a team so powerless that they are unable to harm the tank and the battle ends in a flawless victory. I wasn't sure if that would be the case in the battle but I wanted my tank to be a tough one to injure.

Unit 3 & 4: Disintegrator

I remember when I started to play splinterlands and I used to watch Bulldog's videos a lot on YouTube. It was from him that I first heard the concept of multiple sneak attacks in a battle. It worked a lot in bronze back then and it still works till date. So, for this battle, I have decided to use Stitch Leech and Uraeus as my sneak attackers. For 3 mana each and similar attack damage, they really go well together.

Unit 5: Soul Fiend

We used to use Furious Chicken before the separation of modern from wild but now we use the fiends. It seldom hurts to have a dummy unit on the team if there's space for it especially if the unit costs 0 mana like the Soul Fiend does. I'm anticipating that the enemy may have some sneak attackers ready to disable my team from the back so I have Soul Fiend there to take the first hit. One hit, can be the difference between a win and loss.

The Battle

I've been seeing the Possibilus and Coastal Sentry combo quite a lot these days even in silver and gold. This combo is quite effective and I have used it myself in multiple occasions but in this case it will not work.

Notice that the Cruel Sethropod and Coastal Sentry have their melee damage slashed because of Disintegrator's Demoralize. I also have Avina's self heal on Chaos Knight and that makes her a more sturdy tank.

Basically, in this battle the, Coastal Sentry is the only unit that can cause some damage to the Chaos Knight but she will always just heal up. Uraeus and Stitch Leech will take out the units at the back with no problems at all. The game is clearly a done deal for my guys.

Here's how the battle field looked on the last round;

Coastal Sentry's been wounding the Chaos Agent but she keeps healing herself up. It took a couple of hits but the Sentry was eventually taken out and the battle was won.

CONCLUSION

In this battle, the enemy effectively had just one attacker because of the shied and demoralize. If we're to count attacks that cause game changing damage, the enemy actually had none because Chaos Agent was able to make good use of the tank heal ability. It's crazy that a double strike could not even suffice to do any serious damage. It goes to show that brute force is not always the best strategy for a battle. Unfortunately, this is probably what my opponent had in mind with Possibilus and Coastal Sentry. In the end, it was all for nothing.
