AIM TRUE

image.png

The challenge continues and this time around there is no dodge factor in the battles. Speed only determines who gets to attack first but then all attacks will always hit. So there is no point trying to defend the back with flying or having a unit with phase in front because those abilities would be useless against the attacks. Rather, we have to devise some other smart ways to keep our teams alive just enough to win the battle.

To be honest, I really don't have a problem with the aim true ruleset because I seldom consider dodging attacks. For the thorns and Stampede, I think those are just two rulesets that don't go together very well. Why would you want to stampede when you know that you'd be hit with thorns every time unless you have the reflection shield and a heal. The small mana cap does not even help. Oh well, I have to work with what I've been given.

I don't want to risk it by using melee attacks so I will stick with non contact attacks. I've decided that I will use more magic because I suspect that the enemy might just use some armor in order to defend against any thorns. I want to be able to bypass the armor. I just hope there is no void armor.

This guy guy costs 0 mana and is really just there to take any initial damage. I like to use the fiend if I feel it is necessary and I have space. In this case, he definitely needs to play.

I also put this guy on the team just to take any hits after Fungus Fiend is taken out. I normally don't like scattershot but this guy cost just 2 mana and if he does any damage at all, it could really help.

Initially, I was not sure whether to use this unit or Queen Mycelia but then I decided to go with this one because she is faster, has more health and has bloodlust. The bloodlust can make her quite strong at the back although I doubt there would be sneak attacks. Still, if she gets to the front, she can become quite difficult to take down because of the bloodlust.

Lastly is Djinn Biljka. I like this unit because of his camouflage and 2x magic attack. He does good damage but you can't reach him at the back unless you have blast. Thanks to Obsidian, he will be able to do more damage.

The Battle Highlights

My ElementEnemy's Element
image.pngimage.png

Round 1:

  • The enemy uses an unexpected summoner. Bortus starts by reducing the magic attacks but Obsidian restores them. Jini Guise then protects her people wit +2 armor.

  • Ice Pixie starts the battle with a 1x magic attack on the Fungus Fiend. Musa Saline does a follow up attack and the fiend goes down.

  • Igor Darkspear throws blades at the Acid Shooter and then the Frost Lion hits him with a melee attack. The Lion takes more damage than he causes because of thorns.

  • Now that Frost Lion's void armor is gone, Jini Guise and Djinn Biljka see the chance to take down the beast and the take it.

Round 2:

  • Ice Pixie, Musa Saline and Igor Darkspear work together to kill the Acid shooter. Now I am down to just 2 units while the enemy has 5.

  • Jini Guise shoots the Torrent Fiend who retaliates but is killed by thorns. This activated the bloodlust and now the battle becomes interesting.

  • Hardy Stonefish hits Jini Guise but just ends up losing his armor. Djinn Biljka then takes him out.

Round 3:

  • The Ice Pixie launches a weak attack on Jini Guise but Jini takes one shot and the Ice Pixie crashes to the ground. Jini Guise revels in the glory.

  • Musa Saline and Igor Darkspear also launch weak attacks but Jini Guise stands strong.

  • Djinn Biljka ends the round with a 2x magic attack on Musa Saline who has scavenged the health of others up until this point.

Round 4-6:

  • Musa Saline and Igor Darkspear try their best to take down Jini Guise but she proves to be too strong. With the help of Djinn Biljka, Jini Guise takes down the weak water monsters and the Earth team claims victory.

CONCLUSION

I had hoped that the enemy would not use a void armor but he did. However, the void armor didn't even do anything because it was destroyed very early in the battle. It made the Frost Lion really easy to kill.

I also did not expect that my opponent would use Bortus to reduce the magic damage of my units. This had me worried in the beginning as to whether the damage caused by Biljka and Jini Guise would be enough. Thankfully, it was.

I was quite happy when the bloodlust ability was finally activated. From then, I became quite confident that I would win the game because I had more fire power in my tank.

I think the opponent should have had some support for his void armor. It was a good idea but it was just not effective at all. If the armor held on, this battle would have surely had a different outcome especially given that my first two units were just killed easily.

Oh well, that battle is over. Nothing we can do about it now but learn.
