Rebellion⚔: My Favorite Summoners For Now.

Hello there, fellow mages.
The past few weeks have been really exciting times for those of us invested in the Splinterlands ecosystem. Land phase 1.5 has finally been released and, after two years since the Chaos release, we finally got a major set release which is The Rebellion. In this post, I'm going to talk a little bit about rebellion.
Personally, it's really exciting to witness a major set release like this because, given that I started playing this game last year, I am generation Chaos and I only have Chaos Legion cards. It's nice having a new set in modern even though it would take some time to get used to the cards and new abilities. Well, it's a learning process and I am loving it.
On that note, I have played with a couple of the cards and I have some favorites at their basic levels. I want to rank some of the summoners in this post as a sort of journal for me to come back to one day and see how much my preferences would have changed. I have only used some of these summoners in level 1 but I will rent them within the week and eventually in silver level as well when I get back to silver. For now, let's work with what we have. Here are my top five favorite summoners in rebellion for now;

RANKING THE SUMMONERS
1. First Place: Avina of the Wolf

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that this summoner is a great addition to the life team. The heal buff is good because someone like Uriel can still be able to heal in level 1 if granted the ability. I don't know how important heal would be in higher levels or on other monsters but that buff isn't really what I like about this summoner.
The life team is not really known to be fast so I think that the selective speed buff is something that makes some difference. I can already imagine playing with the new Legendary Bera Dallin in front with a swiftness buff and an additional +2 speed from Avina. The other side may have a hard time hitting Bera and so the life team can just take them out one by one. It would be even better if the ruleset was Weak Magic. Even Iziar can serve as a decent frontline monster with Avina given his void ability as he can dodge other attacks and take half damage from magic attakcs.
Another way to pair Avina that comes to mind is with a monster with Bloodlust. Jared Scar comes to mind but I think a much better candidate would be the gladiator Marisol Contuma given his incredible 5x speed. Of course, he is a gladius card and can only be played in brawls or the "Are you not entertained?" ruleset so this combo will not come all the time.
All in all, I like Avina so much especially because of the speed buff. The art also looks pretty cool. I look forward to playing with this card and discovering new ways to combine her.

2. Second Place: Prunda Undervesch

When the concept of these dual element summoners was first introduced, I thought it was an interesting idea but I never expected to have them as favorites especially given that they have no buffs. Well, I was wrong because these summoners open doors for some crazy combinations that were just not possible in the past.
Prunda has one of best combinations I have seen so far at least in the bronze level. Water and Life have some great synergies that desperately need to be discovered. Here are just two team examples that I have used;

In these two battles, the Wave Brood could not be killed because of the several tank heal units on the team. This is just one setup that works most of the time and I'm loving it. I look forward to learning more combinations especially in the higher leagues as I get back to my former glory.

3. Third Place: Underboss Fabino

Of course this guy was going to be on the list. I really think having the chance to strategically poison one unit on the other team can be a huge advantage. Healers, units with buffs or debuffs, or other annoying members like scavengers or monsters with flying can have some damage dealt to them all the way in the middle.
The poison is good but I really like the +2 melee buff better. At first, I was not convinced that this buff would be so great in modern especially given the fact that I have associated the Earth team with magic. But then, I remembered that there were monsters that would be big hitters with this kind of buff like Grund with the double strike. I haven't played with the melee buff yet but I look forward to seeing it work especially in higher levels.

4. Fourth Place: Reklah

When I started playing splinterlads last year, the death element was one of my favorites but, along the line, I stopped playing with it that much. Well, that may just change with this summoner right here. I love the Reflection Shield ability a lot and I still think it is very underrated. It is this ability that makes me like and cherish my Venator Kinjo, which is the first legendary monster I ever got from a chest. Now that we have this reflection shield ability in the death element, I may just consider looking into "death" again.
The first application of this buff that comes to mind is given the explosive weaponry ruleset. A taunt monster in front with a powerful second monster with Reflection shield can make a huge difference. The taunt monster can also be placed at the back and the reflection shield is applied to the second monster and the second to the last. That way, the front and back can take hits without affecting the adjacent units.
The ability can also be applied under the super sneak ruleset because the common thorns counter becomes absolutely useless. In fact, any counter fire becomes useless with this ability and that can be really frustrating. I look forward to frustrating my opponents with this guy.

5. Fifth Place: Chuul Jujinchi

Ok I'll be honest and admit that I didn't really have a proper look at the Life and Earth combinations before I placed Chuul in the 5th position. There may be other summoners better than him but Earth and Life are my two favorite splinters in the game and I intend to learn synergies between them. Also, these two elements are the ones that I am a lot more invested in. So, for now, Chuul is in fifth place.

A NEW DAWN IN SPLINTERLANDS
It's just been a year and a half since I started playing this game and in such a short time, there has been a lot of progress made in improving the game. Splinterlands is a whole different product from the one I met initially. Now, there is a new set and it's a big deal for me. I can finally own cards that are not Chaos Legion and I will start with the summoners. I am ready for the rebellion. Are you?
I'd love to hear the thoughts of the reader. Which summoner is your favorite so far?
