Death used to be one of my favorite elements but I barely use it these days. Well, I have to use it this week for the SHARE YOUR BATTLE CHALLENGE because the theme monster is The Life Sapper. Let's just get right into it...

THE LIFE SAPPER

At a 3 mana cost, the Life Sapper is a card that you can fit in any mana cap. The monster's damage starts at just 1 and is maxed to 2 at level 4. The Life Sapper is also pretty slow starting with a speed of 2 and having a max of 4. You may even dislike this monster if you consider that his highest health is 4 but the Life Leech ability makes up for that. With Life Leech, the Life Sapper gains health in proportion to the damage he causes. Still, considering that his highest damage is 2, the health gains may not be so impressive but I guess anymore would make him an overpowered low mana monster.

The Life Sapper's abilities does not stop at the Life Leech. At max level, this monster also gains the Redemption ability which is a pretty cool one if you ask me.

I'll use the Life Sapper at level 1 in this battle.

Strategy

My strategy is simple; Hit Hard and Stay alive!

Since I don't have any death summoners, I have to use the Thaddius Brood starter card. I definitely want my team to last for as long as possible. At the same time, I want the enemy's team not to last as long as mine. Thankfully, Thaddius Brood's -1 health can help to speed up that defeat process.

With 9 health and thorns, I believe that the Cursed Windeku is a good enough tank for this battle. This monster also has a decent speed at level 1. His thorns ability will also help to speed up the deaths of any rival melee monsters.

With 1 speed and 1 damage, the Shadow Snitch is really not very impressive. The reason I put him in the second position is because of the sneak ability. Even with unimpressive stats, he should be able to do some damage.

I've really started to like Magi of Chaos and have used him a lot. I, for sure did not want him to miss out on this battle. A 2x magic attack from this guy should do quite the damage.

And the star of today's show stays in the fourth position. I expect Life Sapper to last for quite some time in this battle. Let's just see how this monster's presence would impact the entire team.

For a final backline support, I decided to use the Soul Strangler. This monster fits right into the 3 mana deficit with it's 2 range attack. The downside is that he is vulnerable to sneak attacks.

Round 1:

• The enemy and I use the same summoner. The summoners apply their debuffs and each side loses 1 health on every monster and 1 damage on every magic monster.
• My cursed Windeku easily takes out the enemy's Corpse Fiend.
• The enemy's Cursed Windeku strikes mine but also takes some damage from thorns.
• The enemy's Undead Badger kills my Soul Strangler.
• Shadow Snitch, Magi of Chaos and Life Life Leech all attack the enemy's Cursed Windeku. The thorns damage Shadow Snitch.

Round 2:

• The two Cursed Windeku's attack each other and take damage from thorns. The enemy's does not survive the duel.
• The Undead Badger does 1 damage to Life Sapper.
• All my monsters focus their attacks on the enemy's Riftwing.

Round 3 & 4

• All my attacks are focused on the frontline.
• The Undead Badger keeps attacking Life Sapper but his Life Leech keeps him alive.
• Eventually, Riftwing is taken out. Undead Badger is forced to the frontline where Life Sapper feeds off his only health.
  DEFEATED!

Victory!

Although the enemy had a level 2 summoner, he did not stand a chance against my team. The poor placement really cost him the battle but surely I am not complaining.

Did My Strategy Work?

My strategy to stay alive definitely worked. Placing Soul Strangler at the very back was a good idea because he took the initial hit from Undead Badger. If Life Sapper was at the back, he would have been taken out before he got to use the Life Leech.

Life Sapper's Life Leech was a great defense against sneak. Every time he was hit, he just replaced the health. This made the enemy's attacks useless and at that point, the win was sure.

Do I like the Life Sapper

I really don't know if I like this monster. Back when I used to use Death a lot, I rarely used him but when I did, his success rate was ok I guess. Despite the Life Leech, this monster can be taken out easily. Still, I don't know if I like him but that's definitely a card I will not buy.
