Splinterlands: Pulling a Gold Foil Aimee Whisperwind!

Several months ago Splinterlands announced the introduction of some new cards to the Frontier Mode in the form of Jackpot Cards. One of four cards can be won by completing daily rewards, but there is only a 1.5% chance of getting a lucky pull. So they are relatively uncommon. As I have discussed here in the past, my primary account is pretty unlucky, as a matter of fact I might even go as far to say it's been cursed. It's rarely gets lucky pulls of any sort. As a matter of fact it's only ever produced one Jackpot Card since they were introduced!
My secondary account, on the other hand, is nothing but lucky. It has pulled a gold foil epic Jackpot Card and well as multiple gold foil legendary cards. And the other day, once again, it proved it's luck with a gold foil pull of Aimee Whisperwind.

This is always and exciting sign, see the card off the right? That means you have won a Jackpot Card!

And then for the reveal, a gold foil Aimee Whisperwind!

The nice thing about this card is that is starts at level three which comes with three melee attack with Opportunity. That means she attacks the opposing team's weakest unit health wise. She also has fantastic speed of five! Those are some great strengths, but she also has some serious weaknesses. Her mana is nine so she need high mana matches for use and her base health is only five. So using her you have to be careful as she can be the victim of opportunity attacks herself. Rulesets where everyone is equal is definitely to your advantage there!
I've been using her quite a bit in Frontier Mode the last couple of days, so here's a match showing what she can do!

Lately I have been experimenting with water water teams in Frontier Mode. I used to have a fixed formula I like to use, but I'm finding more success by moving things around a bit. It doesn't always work, but I am learning a lot in the process. So that's where this new card fits in so nicely. Let's have a look at this match:
You can see the entire battle by clicking this link here.

This match is in Frontier Mode and has the standard ruleset with a mana cap of 59. Really pretty high which is nice! This screenshot is after the buffs are applied but before the action has started. I chose to use Marlai Sinagariel as my archon as she increases the magic attack of each member of my team by one. For my tank I chose Port Guardian and followed that up with Saltwater Mage. Next up was Great Bear Druid and then I placed in Aimee Whisperwind. To round out the team I place A'lan Musketeer and last Mystic Scaleweaver.
My opponent also chose Marlai as archon and Port Guardian as tank. That's where I our team's start to differ, second up was Great Bear Druid followed by Lunaki Howler. Next they elected to place Mystic Scaleweaver followed by Saltwater Mage, placing A'lan Musketeer in last position. That did open him up to Sneak attacks however.

By round two we both lost our tanks and my opponent's Great Bear Druid is getting pretty weak as well as my Saltwater Mage. My opponent's A'lan Musketeer has been pretty severely beat up by sneak and opportunity attacks.

Here you see Aimee do her damage to take out the Great Bear Druid!

By round three things are looking pretty good. Aimee contributes again taking out the A'lan Musketeer.

And near the end of round three my A'lan Musketeer delivers the final deathblow to the Saltwater Mage. Great game to my opponent! I am really finding this new card useful in the right situations and it's nice to have some additional Foundations cards. Once she is at level three Aimee is a serious threat with her speed and increased melee attacks!

I always like to share some pack openings in my posts. Recently I haven't had many lucky ones except in this Gladius Case pull. Gladius cards can be used in brawls and occasionally in Modern or Wild matches when the rulesets allow for for it. One of my favorite cards to use when that comes up is always Quora Towershead, she is one tough card! Not only does she have self heal but bloodlust, so every kill she makes her speed, health, and attack increase. Not to mention she has the dual melee and magic attack. Just a great card overall!

Here are a couple packs I opened recently and I managed to pull a Quora! Now I am just one card short of reaching a level four! I also got a Katrelba which is another awesome card, so over all a great pack opening!

Nice job! I made it to Gold III today. Didn't pull any reward cards though. I did get one of the special ones from wild however.
