LOVE AT FIRST GLANCE! 6 Interesting Things I Discovered on my First 7 Days on Splinterlands.

There are many interesting features in Splinterlands. For a novice player like me, the following are what caught my interests and attention the first time.

1. Return of Investment:

The first thing that I thought of when starting to play this game was the return on investment.

Is it worth both my initial investment of 10 USD (starter pack) and my time?

After all, it’s a play-to-earn game. Right?

My total reward for around two hours of playing was around 10.1 DEC. 10 was from my first quest while the 0.1 was from my total winnings.

My initial conclusion was, it was too low to play for the sake of earning.

But what the heck! I should give it more time, enjoy the game for the time being and see what it will happen after a month or two.

I’m loving the game, any earning after is a bonus!

2. Daily Rewards

At first, the daily quest was disruptive in my gameplay. I was so focused on completing the requirements in a row that it cost me the match most of the time.

My next quests taught me how to properly incorporate it within my regular ranked battles. ^_^

Below is the list of my very first 7 daily quest rewards:

3. Attack Order / Order of Turns

This one is a little tricky and what frustrates me at first. It took me more time getting used to as compared to the other battle rules of the game.

All I know is that speed is the deciding factor.

That’s why I was stunned to see cards of equal speed going first, most of the time, before mine.

I hate what I don’t understand and my next few battles chaotic!

I had a little hard time searching for answers so I will add my own findings below to help those who might be needing it.

4. Renting

One of the features that I like on this game is the ability to rent cards.
Players can rent cards from the market place for a fraction of its price.

The renter can then build their dream decks without “breaking the bank”.
The card owners will also receive a stream of passive in-game currency (DEC) through the rents. It’s a win-win for both parties.

5. Staking

If you’re interested in investment, this would be another plus for the game.
I'm surprised to see that the staking APR was so high, around 117% the first time I saw it.

For comparison purposes, Binance at the time of writing has its highest APY at 45%. Index funds, at the same time, is boasting a consistent 10% APY.

That’s a MASSIVE difference!

I staked 10 SPS and got a 24 percent return in just seven days!

NOTE:
I’m not a financial advisor, this are my own personal opinions. Please take them with a grain of salt.
Do your own research before making any investment decisions.

6. Season Rewards

For my first season, I managed to reach the Bronze II tier and got 7 Loot Chests as a reward.

I was not able to advance above Bronze II as I lack enough power rating.

The following are what I got from each chest with their corresponding market values.

Finally, I would like to thank @bulldog1205 for helping me out. His videos (and him lending some of his card) helped me a lot. Make sure to follow him for useful information about the game.

Good day everyone!

Hello, @thecuriousfool! This is @jcrodriguez from @OCD team. We saw that you already posted your first post here in Hive! Congratulations and welcome! However, it would be awesome if you do an introduction post. As a sample of what an intro post is, you can refer to this intro post for reference:

Keeping Up With the Buzz - My Introduction to the Hive Community

There's no specific format on how you do your intro post, but there is some suggested content that we would love to see in your post. Information like who are you and where you're from, how did you discover Hive or who invited you, what types of content you want to see here and the types that you want to produce, and what are your expectations in this platform. There's no pressure on this. You can choose whatever information you would like to share.

You can explore the communities that you may like in this post: OCD Communities Incubation Program. There is a wide variety of topics, you are sure to find the right communities for your content.

You may encounter RC (Resource Credits) issues when trying to comment/post because you don't have enough Hive Power in your account yet. You can fix this with a one week temporary delegation through the Gift Giver Site. Another solution is for the person who recommended Hive to delegate some Hive Power to you.

If you are looking for tips and information as a Hive newbie, click here: newbie guide. They are easy to understand and useful for learning how the platform ecosystem works.

Please be aware that Hive is a bit different from other social media platforms since you are monetizing your blog, so it is important not to include content that you don't own without sources (and it shouldn't exceed 50% of the post). For more information, check this post - Why and How People Abuse and Plagiarise by hivewatchers.

If you have questions or concerns, you can hop into OCD's Discord server and we'll gladly answer your questions.

Lovesniper will follow you and we are looking forward to your intro post!

Hope to see your next posts soon!
