My Splinterlands Blog #139 - Half A Season With Bots Banned (In Modern)

Welcome to another article where I write about my journey playing Splinterlands! With half a season of bots being banned in Modern now passed, the move seems to be popular with most of the community, at least those on Discord. Now, players can blame our losses on random rolls in combat, or our opponents having gotten account bound cards that we haven't gotten yet.

Not a lot of news this past week and a fairly small update to the game, with no real gameplay updates. The only real announcement was land phase 1.5 should be out sometime in August, and still no release date for Soulkeep. It was a little odd to have the bots cut off in the middle of the season, but so far it hasn't really caused me to run into any problems finding matches.

The reduction in players has led to a noticeable increase in SPS rewards for Modern league. Bronze league is under populated, particularly compared to when there were hordes of bots, so it is a significant increase there. Without much other news to cover, let's move on to Brawls and season rewards.

Guild Brawls:

Guild Brawl #163, playing Bronze League Gold Foil Only. The guild came in 5th place overall.

Vs. AIBLAZE of BRIGHTON BLOOM'S BISTRO

Vs. SIRSPSALOT OF GUILD OF DELEGATION

Vs. ACISOSIS of DISIDIA

Vs. ZALLIN-10 of BRAZIL

I also opened one Gladiator pack:

Nothing of note, just the basic single rare card.

The Rest:

No real trading or tournaments, as usual. I managed to get up to Gold league on my alternate account in both Modern and Wild, while I only really played Modern on my main account and I was able to get up to Diamond II before the end of the season. My end-of-season rewards were pretty nice this time around:

These are Gold league chests on my InvestYGator account. I hit a jackpot chest with over 600 SPS, which is pretty nice. The pair of gold foil commons was okay, but otherwise fairly normal chests.

A pair of gold foil legendary monsters on my main account is also basically a jackpot chest. These were Diamond chests, which is why the potions tend to average higher.

I hope that the manual play in Modern helps rejuvenate interest in the game a bit. I'm also hoping that the long-delayed land update finally coming out isn't a disappointment, though there are still several more phases of land to follow. The timeline seems to extend until early 2025, so there's still a ways to go.

The next season should be interesting, as it will be the first full season with human only for Modern. I don't really have any plans other than to grind ahead and eventually put most of my Wild only format cards onto land. Hopefully I'll get lucky and pick up some more of the reward cards I need.

And, that’s about it for this week! I'll be back in about a week with an update. Thank you for reading and if you have any questions or comments, please let me know below!
