My Splinterlands Blog #142 - Gameplay Tweaks, No Land

Welcome to another article where I write about my journey playing Splinterlands! We've reached the midpoint of this very lengthy end of August season. Land phase 1.5 still has yet to be released for public testing, which was strongly suggested would be out during the middle of the month, and it's starting to feel like the previously promised August release date might be missed.

The question people keep asking about the next phase of land.

A few gameplay tweaks, or bug fixes, came out during the last weekly patch. Dispel got reverted back to happening after damage, so it would no longer go through Divine Shield or armor granted from buffs. A bug where Weapons Training would incorrectly persist in certain situations after a monster was resurrected was fixed, and a bug with Amplify clearing earlier than intended when the monster with it was dying, but not dead, was also fixed.

Some issues with season rentals were addressed and they added automatic refunds if you tried to pay for a tournament you had already entered. They also seem to have fixed some long standing issues with the long-ignored Mobile app. So, things are getting done, though most of the focus on Discord chat seems to be that land testing isn't out yet, the tower defense game isn't out yet, and that validators are also not a thing yet.

That's about it for news. Nothing really of note was said on the last Town Square. I did open a couple more of my Chaos Legion packs though:

While the first pack was mediocre, the second one was much better with double rare cards and an epic!

Guild Brawls:

Guild Brawl #168, playing Bronze League Gold Foil Only. We came in 2nd to last place with one person not submitting a team and only 5 people even signing up. The main guild leader has been MIA for a bit, and while he did make some co-leaders no one has really stepped up with recruiting or organizing. I should probably try to do it, but I feel like I don't have the time with work.

The Rest:

It has been a fairly frustrating season so far. I've been stuck in Gold II, or Silver II on my alternate account, for most of the season. It seems like way more opponents have max level cards, with legendary Untamed summoners. Gold has actually seemed a bit more even than Silver for most of the season.

I've only been averaging maybe 5 chests a day, where I used to handily get 10+ in Silver. I probably got slightly less than 5 in Gold historically, though I think I've been averaging more chests in Gold this season. I'm debating switching to Wild to see if I can do better fighting against the bots there.

Pretty much in a holding pattern waiting on the next phase of land to come out. The team is said to be solely focused on that at this point, with no real news on any other upcoming products or updates. I'm hoping that they finally get it into public testing this weekend, but we'll just have to wait and see.
