My Splinterlands Blog #141 - Season End and Still Waiting for Land

Welcome to another article where I write about my journey playing Splinterlands! This season was a particularly short one, ending early due to there being an update on the 15th of August. The next season is a particularly long one because of this, being about 17 days long.

The deployment of the next phase of land to public testing didn't happen, and is delayed until "it's ready for testing". No major updates this past week, with a few bug fixes being rolled out and Splinterlands finally accepting their soccer game's tokens for purchasing Credits to use on the Splinterlands market. This next phase of land was said to be coming out in August, which at this point I'm presuming to mean the last week of August.

I did open a couple of Chaos Legion packs this past week:

With some disappointing results. Both packs just had the minimum single rare card and nothing of note beyond that.

Guild Brawls:

Guild Brawl #167, playing Bronze League Gold Foil Only. The guild came in 4th last place, with one person failing to submit teams. A lot of the guild isn't even signing up for brawls, and we haven't had any new people join. This is probably my own fault in part, though it's a bit awkward for me to try to recruit people now. Anyhow, I did well in my matches:

Vs. KLEOPATRA1986 of DARKSIDE

Vs. GOTCHABACK of MANDOLORIANS

Vs. WELLINGT567 of WELLINGTON GROUP

Vs. FILURIS of LUX AETERNA

I also opened one Gladiator pack, getting much better results:

The Rest:

This season I just managed to limp up to Gold III on my alternate account at the end of season, and Diamond III on my main. I played a tiny bit of Wild format on my alternate account, as I didn't want to drop out of Gold league, and was doing much better than I had been doing in Modern. I'm starting to think that maybe I should switch back to beating up more poorly equipped bots, as the real players in Modern tend to have a lot more max level cards - at least in Silver on my alt.

I didn't get a ton of chests this season, and nothing too exciting for rewards. Maybe I should stop jumping up to Gold at end of season on my alt, as I'd probably have a lot more chests if I was getting Silver season chests in Silver league. Here's what I got this season:

My alternate accounts season rewards, which were Gold league quality chests.

Diamond chests, which are mostly unimpressive. The gold commons are nice finds, but no packs of legendary cards.

As I said, I expect land 1.5 will be out around the end of the month, unless it gets delayed yet again. I don't really see that happening, since the company seems pretty focused on getting it out the door. I'm not sure it's going to be the magical fix for card and token prices that people are hoping for, but maybe it will make cards a bit rarer again.

And, that’s about it for this week. I’ll be back in about a week with an update. Thank you for reading and if you have any questions or comments, please let me know below!

I dropped down to Silver I for Wild and I'm now very daunted to try and make that back up. I both love and hate that the game plays differently (ie, different builds do well) in the different leagues. It's very clever and keeps the game interesting, but it also means I have to relearn the game when I let myself drop like that.

I'm so curious to how Land 1.5 will affect the game. I personally will be pulling 35 cards off the rental market to work my land... and while I don't have many gold cards, I imagine many, many gold cards will leave the game forever.

Do you have all the cards you need for your land?

Haha, I probably could use better cards for land. I've got some max level common reward cards I will be using, and at this point a bunch of not max level older cards by essentially quitting Wild. I still don't feel particularly ready, and I'm going to need to get more DEC :/ I should probably try to sell some stuff, but I feel like there's more sellers than buyers right now, and it's hard to move more expensive cards.

Yeah, you can't be the only one who'll be quitting wild, or quitting tournaments (especially the gold foil tournaments) once Land 1.5 comes out. I do hope it becomes a lot easier to sell the more expensive cards once Land is out... but who knows honestly.
