My Splinterlands Blog #148 - A Card For Fans Of Burning

Welcome to a somewhat belated end-of-season article, where I write about my journey playing Splinterlands! Not a lot of news since the last big update with the company changing leadership and doing another round of layoffs. They laid off the person in charge of making official tournaments, and don't seem to have given that responsibility to anyone else, so no new official tournaments have been created in the last couple of weeks.

The only major item of note, is that the next Riftwatcher airdrop card has been announced, Immolation. This is a new Legendary card that is both a high health tanky card, and a large magic damage dealer. The only downside is the extremely high casting cost, so I expect this will be played quite often in high manna matches.

You need to have purchased 275 Riftwatcher packs to get a guaranteed copy, so much like the last airdrop I have a very small chance of getting any free copies. With Rebellion coming out soon, and maybe Land 1.5, I'm not sure that I'll pick any up soon. Though, I do think this will be an all around good card.

And, that's about it for news. I'm still getting enough Chaos Legion reward packs to opened a couple every week, though I think that they will run out soon. In the meantime, here are a couple more packs for this week:

A couple of basic packs. The top one is better, with Deeplurker being one of the better commons and Cursed Windeku being a very useful rare card.

Guild Brawls:

Guild Brawl #176 playing Bronze League Gold Foil Only. The guild came in 2nd to last place, with only a handful of people signing up and one person not submitting teams for a large number of fights.

Vs. MONSTERQUEEN of LUKEMATEO

Vs. BBYBLITZ of PHOENIX LAND - opponent fled

Vs. SPLINTERISLAND of PINOY PIT BULLS

Vs. ALYHA13 of LEAGUE OF CHAMPIONS

Vs. GOLDCOOMONLOVER of DIAMOND HANDS

I earned enough Merits to get another Gladiator pack:

A lucky pack with 4 rare cards, instead of the base 1.

The Rest:

Not much new, as I mentioned at the top. Still waiting on the next phase of Land to come out and it seems like Tower Defense is pushed off into the future. There was a new push of Land 1.5 code to the Mavericks testing server, but it still seems fairly buggy. I should probably try to rent/sell some cards to get more Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) for land, but haven't really been too active on that front.

I've pretty much just been grinding away at ranked gameplay. I've been stuck in the middle of Gold League in Modern on my main account, but happy to not have gotten kicked back down to Silver. I ran up to where I could move into Gold in Wild on my alternate account in one day, and have been similarly stuck in the middle of Silver League in Modern.

And, that's about it for this mid-season update. I did get it written up much closer to on time than my last one. Thank you for reading, and I'll be back in about a week with a season wrap up!
