My Splinterlands Blog #57 - Halloween 2021 Season End

Welcome to another weekly update on my attempt to challenge the Splinterlands ranked leagues! Initially it was a self challenge, to see how far I could get with the initial set of cards plus whatever I could win. But, that kind of fell apart around week 30 (with the game integrating with the WAX network and users being able to buy and sell cards on Atomic Hub).

Not much in the way of game updates over the past week, which is more the status quo. There was an announcement that there will be an upcoming change, requiring players to turn on the active key for transactions for all legacy accounts that have it disabled. So make sure that you've got your Hive account keys for your Splinterlands account!

They did also post the tentative stats for the Chaos Legion pre-sale promo card.

It was a fairly quiet week overall. I did qualify for a Halloween Day tournament, which will occur after I finish writing this article. The end of the season didn't exactly go smoothly for all. It took about 10 minutes to process, and apparently a lot of people timed their rentals to expire within minutes of the seasons end - causing them to get less rewards than they expected.

As usual, here's my break down of the past week:

Daily Quest Rewards:

Daily Quest # 416 - Win 5 with Snipe. For completing this daily quest, I received 2 Legendary potions, a Gold potion, 120 (7 + 113) Dark Energy Crystals (DEC), a Venari Seedsmith (rare monster), a Venari Bonesmith (rare monster), and a Venari Heatsmith (common monster).

Daily Quest # 417 - Win 5 with Death… re-rolled to Win 5 with Dragon. For completing this daily quest, I got 3 Gold potions, a Legendary potion, 10 DEC, 2 Venari Heatsmiths, and a Venari Crystalsmith (rare monster).

Daily Quest # 418 - Win 5 with Earth. For finishing this daily quest, I received 6 (2 + 4) DEC, a Legendary potion, a Gargoya Lion (common monster), a Venari Heatsmith, a Uraeus (epic monster), a Djinn Renova (epic monster), and a Pelacor Bandit (common monster).

I was pretty happy to see the 2 epic cards.

Daily Quest # 419 - Win 5 with Water. For completing this daily quest, I got 11 (9 + 2) DEC, a Legendary potion, a Gold potion, a Pelacor Deceiver (common monster), a Pelacor Mercenary (common monster) , a Venari Heatsmith, and a Venari Seedsmith.

Daily Quest # 420 - Win 5 with Life…. re-rolled to win 5 with Fire. This was pretty awful, as my only sets that are Gold level are Water and Earth. I had to rent Yodin to finish the daily quest. When I did, I got 57 (30 + 20 + 7) DEC, 3 Gold potions, a Legendary potion, and a Gold Foil Pelacor Mercenary.

Daily Quest # 421 - Win 5 with Fire… re-rolled to Win 5 with Death. Re-rolling was a mistake! I eventually managed to crawl through this daily quest, getting 10 (2 + 8) DEC, 2 Gold potions, a Gargoya Lion, a Pelacor Bandit, a Pelacor Mercenary, and a Venari Wavesmith. I was seriously considering letting the re-roll timer expire.

Daily Quest # 422 - Win 5 with Life… re-rolled to Win 5 with Dragon. Before completing the quest, I advanced up to Diamond III. When claiming the reward I got 2 Legendary potions, a Gold potion, a Pelacor Conjurer (common monster), a Pelacor Bandit, a Gargoya Lion, and 91 (3 + 9 + 1 + 78) DEC.

I also opened a couple more of my Untamed packs, number 31 and 32 out of 50.

Two rares, one being a summoner, was a nice start.

Also nice to find two rares, even if no summoners were in this pack.

Tournaments:

Monday Silvershield Knights, Silver League tournament: I did a poor 4-7 on day one, not making day two. I came in 117th place, which still came with a 15 Splintershard Token (SPS) reward (for a 6.25 SPS entry fee).

Spooky Spirit Cup Qualifier, Gold League tournament: This is another Zen Sports tournament event. I technically came in 9th place, but since at least one of the players that made top 8 had already qualified in the Diamond league tournament, I still got in. I have low expectations for the tournament, but will go see if Water or Earth come up as options.

Guild Brawls:

Guild Brawl #42, playing Gold foil Bronze, Untamed set only. I had no opponents this brawl, but the guild did come in 1st place in our grouping. Sadly, I already have no opponents in the next brawl as well.

The Rest:

Not much trading or selling in this past week. The price of vouchers has fallen a bit, along with SPS and DEC, after the initial excitement of the pre-sale starting. As the amount of SPS staked has continued to climb, I'm getting slightly fewer vouchers per day as the pre-sale rolls along. I think I should still be able to get 100 packs, but not sure I'll have a lot of extra to sell. Going for 1,000 seems a bit out of reach as well.

I still need to rent out or sell a lot of cards that I ended up picking up when I got those two card bundles a few weeks ago. I made some brief attempts to put up an extra Kron the Undying and my level 5 Bortus in the trade channel on Discord, but didn't get any serious offers. I did shuffle a bunch of cards over to my InvestYGator alt account to have him jump up to Gold III before the end of the season.

The Lava Launcher and the Gold Foil Venari Crystalsmith were the only real highlights out of a lot of reward chests. It's still nice to get a lot of cards, albeit common and rare ones. I haven't really bought a lot of the new ones, though I should probably look at leveling up some of them before they go out of print.

Playing in Gold league is mostly entertaining, though it can be quite frustrating when I can't play the two Splinters that I have cards leveled up appropriately for that league. Though, I hate to part with my DEC while the SPS air drop is still on-going.

Support is still pretty behind. Apparently lots of people either have issues getting their Hive keys or just aren't writing them down. We've got a backlog of new tickets stretching back almost two weeks, and new ones keep coming in about as fast as we can resolve them. There's also a lot of specific issues which only one or two people can fix, which seems to be preventing them from getting addressed in a timely fashion.

Anyhow, that's about it for this season. A fairly quiet week overall. I have no real plans for the next season, other than to just hang out farming daily quest rewards and occasionally getting beat up in tournaments. Thank you for reading and Happy Halloween!
