Little League: Cheap $ Water is BEASTLY, not too shabby in low mana either - 11 BATTLES REVIEWED

As time goes on you find things that work and others that don't. Today, I'm going to go through my favorite team for Little League!

The Team

Cruel Sethropod
Tide Bider
Angelic Mandarin
Merdaali Guardian
Merdhampir
Kulu Swimhunter

Composition

High health/shield tank > Damage and health / 2nd tank > Damage/utility blocks sneak play > Heal / repair > high damage / block back archer > high damage / high health

In short:
Tank > Heal > Damage

The heal/triage/repair create a buffer to let the front and back get to work. It's a full frontal assault that is hard to handle in little league. That's 9 potential damage per round in silver and 12 in gold!

Sneak is another common Little League play. This setup will have you mowing down their tank and working into that weak back line before it gets a chance to work! You not only have 6 health but the shield from Kelya to help out.

Stands up alright vs magic too!

There's so much synergy with this team for such a basic attack strategy!

Where It Can Fall Short

Earth magic.

Life with extra ranged damage.

Dr Blight.

Quixx the Devious - He strips away too much damage.

How To Adapt It

Merdaali Guardian in the third spot. I play her in the fourth spot because I figure the mandarin can hold down the fort with the health better.

Feasting Seaweed, if you got it, do it!

The Battles

Battle #1 - Win Against Life Level 1 (Silver)

https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_8d9c3110565b7c59649aaf72d4de5079&ref=thejake01

Silver matchup, they couldn't find any footing and it ended up being an almost perfect match. They're not throwing out enough focused damage and don't have enough juice to overpower the front or the back!

Battle #2 - Win Against Death Level 6

https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_1663db3798adbb4d9a3e0df295963a58&ref=thejake01

Even with the Soul Strangler weighing in with 4 damage, this team still can't break through the front line. The back line just keeps holding with those heals! Even if Merdhampir made it to the front, he's already up to 9 health, which at that point is going to take a round or two to mow down.

Battle #3 - Loss Against Water with a Level 3 Blight An arguably better setup!

One of my guildmates said it well one time, he said Dr Blight at gold is like the queen in chess. Probably should rent one more often but here we have almost the same team composition.

Merdaali Guardian is probably better in the third spot most of the time. If you're going neck and neck though I think it might get you the win though.

Battle #4 - Win Against that MEAN FIRE TEAM - YOU know the one

https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_66e62960e0cfdcdd1eb45c2a33633cf4&ref=thejake01

I didn't happen upon a match against that nasty green team gathering these battles but this one is another that frequently gets me (or variations on it). High damage and a leveled Cerberus...

Even with 11 damage, they can't break through. Throwing 9-10 damage to the front alone! They barely get through the Cruel Sethropod.

Battle #5 - Win against Water What if we just use it in a low mana match!

https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_63d76be0d77eca5d1894d2e53fc00804&ref=thejake01

We're even a little short on mana and throw the Hardy Stonefish in the back!

They even used the fiend in the back to squeeze out another mana to damage...but Uraeus and Pelacor Bandit weren't enough to break through!

Battle #6 - Win Against A Similar Water Composition - Cruel Sethropod > Xenith Monk

https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_717208c2f3d1f0fff8aa0ea625e8b600&ref=thejake01

We come through with another flawless victory. The Xenith Monk didn't stand a chance, our armor and heal/repair combo is far super.

Battle #7 - Loss Against a DRAGON Variant! The Triple Sneak Breaks Through and Quixx Shuts IT DOWN!

https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_0388d02c0e6420c35a5f2641be457f1a&ref=thejake01

Quixx says no no no on all that archer damage to slow us down enough in the front to get taken down. Nice trick... what if we rip it off and sacrifice the shield for range damage reduction and toss in some sneak?

Battle #8 - Loss Against That Pesky Feasting Seaweed - Play It If You Got It!

https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_14d9e77ca25feeb2db7f7b33d5e80885&ref=thejake01

Here you see our stalling play in this team shine in full force but it's just not enough for the leveled Feasting Seaweed!

Battle #9 - Win Against Water in Low Mana - Takes Out The Diemonshark with Alabatross

https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_ad2cbc05d90c4338396316ffd62ab6a7&ref=thejake01

This is a great example of how stacking damage in a couple monsters doesn't stand up to squeezing out as much damage as you can get out of each slot. I'd have been real upset if I lost this one.

The Diemonshark just isn't enough to break through that Sethropod!

Battle #10 - Loss Against Double Tanked Earth Magic with Dr Blight

https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_e5f1281d1cb0f665353c281185c7f265&ref=thejake01

It's not that crazy team with the utility all over the place, you know the one, but it whoops us all the same. That magic just eats right through us, this is quite the spendy setup though.

Battle #11 Loss Against Life -- SLOAN!

https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_f8e536e72b58e22d9b31218954ea4cc4&ref=thejake01****

Pelacor Conjurer said not today.

Recap

Gold Version

You probably have these cards and they'll get you plenty of wins, but they're not the most meta play.

We got taken out by a strong life play, some older cards (but we beat some too!), Dr Blight... but the real demolisher of this team is an earth magic team with Blight. Would it have been so strong without Blight and Queen Mycelia (which not a lot of people have), guess you'll have to funk around and find out!
