WWE's Attitude Era vs. Ruthless Aggression Era

Hey there lovely people of the Hive Universe! It's your wrestling boy P, always happy to bring you content and updates on everything WWE, WOOGame, and Wrestling Worldwide

When it comes to WWE, fans often debate which era was better:

the Attitude Era or the Ruthless Aggression Era.

Both have a special place in the hearts of wrestling lovers, but if I had to pick one, then I’d say it’s the Attitude Era for me.

Let’s talk about star power.

During the Attitude Era, legends like Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H and DX were born. They were like real life super heroes who made watching wrestling a must.

Sure, the Ruthless Aggression Era also had great talents like John Cena and Brock Lesnar but just not at par with that of Attitude Era stars in my humble opinion.

Another factor is roster depth:

While the Attitude Era had a few big names dominating the main event scene, there was a profounder rooster talent in Ruthless Aggression Era that featured emerging superstars such as Randy Orton, John Cena and Batista so as to continue to make things remain interesting.

Then there’s competition:

In its ratings battle with WCW during the attitude era, WWE was forced into creating quality content. This didn’t happen during the ruthless aggression era yet, brand extension and early smack down days helped keep things competitive enough

Both eras had their high points when it comes to matches:

While the Attitude Era had some memorable battles, the Ruthless Aggression Era saw a greater level of in-ring competition. Wrestlers like Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit took athleticism and storytelling to new heights.

The Attitude Era was known for its wild and unpredictable storylines as far as storytelling is concerned. It was on the edge with its controversies which sometimes misfired.

I appreciated that the Ruthless Aggression Era leaned more towards realism but missed some of the overdramatization that made the Attitude era so unforgettable.

Moreover, the treatment of women in wrestling improved during the ruthless aggression era, where emphasis was put on their athleticism rather than just sex appeal.

Trish Statrus and Lita had some epic fights which were a display of their abilities.

And what about crowd atmosphere?

The Attitude Era crowds were ablaze with electricity that made every moment seem electrying. The intensity of the attitude era crowds could not be paralleled by moments in Ruthless aggression era, however much they tried.

But hey, while both of them had their fluency, I cannot just simply forget the Attitude era. It was the best time in wrestling history and I will always remember it to be the time I watched Stone Cold Steve Austin raising hell and, The Rock laying down the smack.
