The Chaos Has Begun | I'm buying Splinterlands vouchers

Chaos Legion pre-sale finally live

I think many have been waiting for it for quite some time now. At least I know I was. When the pre-sale info was released, and more info came out about how the voucher system would work, I kept wondering how on earth I could join this pre-sale where I would get 10% discount by paying with $SPS, but still have enough $SPS staked to get as many vouchers dropped as possible. Honestly, for a while I thought I would not be able to join the fun at all.

Until I started to look at the situation differently

Instead of holding my $DEC which was a lot higher in value than when I bought it, I started building my deck by buying cards of the market. I checked for those that seemed undervalued and where I had the feeling they would rise in prize quickly. I also bought quite a bunch of the cheapest reward cards from the market and saw the floor rise by the day. I tried leveling them to the point where an extra ability was added, to rent out the cards as my account still surfaces in Bronze.

I managed to get 9 chests last season, so at least I went up 2 leagues and will try to get into silver this season, but have to admit that until today, I haven't played much yet so if it will work out, don't know. Otherwise, I will just rent out the cards for the full season, either way, it's fine.

My view on how to earn on Splinterlands started to change

As soon as I bought more cards, and saw my collection power grow (plus with that the SPS airdrop), I felt that this might be a smarter idea to get where I wanted to be. The bigger my rewards, the more chance I have at finding a good chest. It also helped that I bought myself a bag of 2000 $SPS at $0.30, as these have tripled in value now. I think they will reach 1 buck soon, but I'm leaving them staked now. Even though I still only get 26 vouchers dropped according to the voucher calculator in the next month, I still feel I should try to get into the pre-sale and try to reach the 50 packs.

My dream of buying 100 or 200 packs is gone

I accepted that this will not be possible unless the vouchers drop hard in value. I have considered selling each voucher instead of buying more to buy more packs. But if I would do that, it would mean that I have a nice extra passive income every day around 0.85 voucher. Depending on the price that day, it can be maybe 16 tot 20 bucks value, this adds up over the full month. But if I'd do that, I would not have any packs, no promo card and no discount. So I started looking at the options.

I did some maths

If I receive 0.85 voucher, and have to buy 0.15 that day to reach 1 voucher to be able to buy a pack (with SPS for 10% discount), depending on the price of vouchers and hive, that could be 5-7 hive a day. The rest of the voucher has been dropped to my account for free, I did not pay for the 0.85 voucher, only the 0.15 I bought in the market. Then I use SPS to pay for the pack, this SPS has also been dropped in my account for free because of my collection power. I have more SPS a day dropped/yield than needed for 1 pack. So still, the only actual cost here that I'm adding is the 5-7 Hive to have 1 pack in my account. How expensive is that pack than actually?

Why should I keep thinking that the pack is $4 + $22 voucher (example) - 10% discount in $SPS if I actually only move around some airdropped tokens/vouchers, and add 5 to 7 hive from my own funds.

With this rate, 30 will be bought by the end of the month

So I still want to try to add 20 more vouchers to buy a total of 50 packs. But even if I'd have to buy 20x 22 bucks a voucher (again, example), this is 440 bucks, because of the DCA method for the first 30 packs, it's not as bad as I expected it to be. Yes, I think 22 bucks a voucher is shit, and I would have loved to see 5 a voucher instead, but what to do. I can't control this market.. So I'm looking at my options. I will probably sell off a few HE tokens that I earn in the next weeks during the pre-sale period only, and I started 1 hive power down, which I will stop after 1 time. This is to free up some extra funds in case I see a dip in voucher prices in the next weeks.

I hope I can make it happen reaching the 50 packs as I really want that promo card and I feel with 50 packs I may have a shot getting a card airdropped as well. Let's see if I can make it happen!

I decided to buy the packs each day

Minimum of 1, if there's an extra voucher due to some extra funds, like today, I will buy two. The process was super easy. Make sure you have the 1 full voucher in-game and then you can start the process to buy a pack:

Still 47 to go. I had to control myself not to move the pack towards the well, I wonder what happens if I do that. Will I lose my pack? Will there be an error, it's hard to ignore the moving part of the page haha. I know it can't be opened until released I was just curious what happens if I try. I managed to control myself though, would suck if I lose a pack.
