Case of Mistaken Identity

coupled with the endless chirping of the birds outside thus catalyzing an eagerly anticipative outlook toward accomplishing objectives for the day. As a result, I decided to stroll a bit just to feed my eyes with the activities going on in my street. I was still trying to observe a newly completed store, when suddenly, I saw a very familiar face just on the adjacent street. I was so convinced that our paths had crossed before I just couldn't say where at that moment though so I crossed the road, approached him, and greeted him stretching my hand for a hand shake; "Hey Buddy! Long time no see '' I said with a huge smile. To my utmost disappointment; it dawned on me all too late- We'd never actually met face-to-face -as evinced by his utterly "confused" kind of stare, indicating that he showed zero recognition of myself or name involved.

"My sincerest apologies...i mistook you for an individual other than yourself" I expressed with great embarrassment while stylishly lowering my hand lol.

The guy warmly responded with a comforting smile, that all was well at the moment.

As I turned to cross to my street, a nagging feeling bubbled in me as I sought to pinpoint who exactly he resembled I racked my brain so hard, just to remember who that guy resembled...

Because for me to have crossed the road just to greet him, it means the person i thought he was, was a very nice person to me. However, as soon as I crossed back to my street, it dawned on me- he bore an uncanny resemblance to my cousin James whom I had not laid eyes on for years...I laughed at myself so hard to have forgotten he looked just like my cousin. Without hesitation, I decided to give James a call and see if he would fancy some catch-up time together.

"What's up james! It's been ages since we last met...soooo I was thinking if you would like us to have a little lunch together maybe tomorrow?" I said, anticipating a positive reply.
James surprisingly responded with a single word query: "Who?"

Sorry bro! It's Timi...I literally just came across someone who looks just like you and I even mistook him for you lol...so a brilliant idea struck me(that we should go and eat in a nice restaurant together and gist) and that's why I gave you a call...so will you be available tomorrow?'' I said, still hoping for a favorable reply.

"Ermm Timi I honestly regret to say this but my current location will hinder me from coming to meet with you this week. Perhaps fate will have it so that our schedules align at a future point in time." James apologized gracefully.

I acknowledged His statement with fervor although As I proceeded on foot, I experienced some disappointment in my inability to catch up with James. Nonetheless, my spirits lifted when I spotted a street performer playing some cool music...Wasting no time, I advanced towards the performance and joyfully danced to the beat. The musician took notice of me and beckoned for my approach. We exchanged words for an extended period, during which it became evident that he was indeed fascinating and pleasant in character.

As time went by, the entertainer concluded that it was time to pack up and head to his next gig. Upon bidding our adieus, he enveloped me in a warm embrace and cordially conveyed, "I am truly grateful that you made an appearance! Your friendliness is exceptional."

Sensations of satisfaction enveloped me as I distanced myself from the situation. The acknowledgement bestowed on me for my sociable nature filled me with a sense of confidence and self-importance. As I walked further down the street, I caught sight of someone approaching in my direction. The person looked a little familiar, still I struggled to recall where our paths may have crossed ( again). However, upon drawing closer proximity to him, it dawned on me that he was the same guy I had mistakenly identified as James Earlier that day.

I greeted him again but this time, without stretching my hand to receive a handshake lol.

The guy set his sights upon me, transmitting a curious expression across his countenance. "Ohh hey we meet again...am i supposed to know you?" he inquired.

A sudden realization dawned upon me as I acknowledged my error. "I offer my sincerest apologies for the mix-up earlier, I mistook you for my cousin due to striking similarities in physical appearance" I said still wondering how people who weren't even related could look so much like each other.

Well, he emitted a light-hearted chuckle, evidently not perturbed by the common mistaking of his identity. "No problem bro...I am familiar with this confusion on numerous occasions," he nonchalantly mentioned before introducing himself formally as Favour.

We shook hands again, and as our hands met in a firm grip, Favour teased me with an amused glint in his eyes, "I see you suspected I may have been your cousin."

"Yeah, I know it sounds silly, but you look exactly like him seeing you made me to call him to see if he wanted to hang out" I said laughing.

As Favour smiled in response, he expressed his interest towards forging new relationships. What surprised me was the fact that he resembled my cousin so much, yet their characters were totally different.... Favour wholeheartedly extended an invitation for a coffee or social event, and With great enthusiasm, I promptly declared my agreement: "Sure, I'd love that!" I replied, excitedly.
Favour and I ended up chatting for hours. It turns out we had a lot in common...and the cool thing is that we became best of friends ever since then.
