Guess Who Wore Bathroom Slippers on Suit

It was just like every Sunday, the only difference was that I woke up really late. I tried my very best to catch up with the time lost to sleep, and so within seconds I had brushed my teeth, and taken my baths.

Officially, it was time for me to put on my long ironed and awaited suit, juicing it up with my well polished and shiny office shoe...it took me roughly 30 minutes just to put on the suite, so as to look as good as possible, but just as I finished with that, a call from a member of the church came in, to know why I wasn't in church yet, of which I explained that I had woken up late, but nevertheless, Was going to be in church with my best of the best outfit.

Carried away me, while still on call, had unconsciously locked my apartment door, and set out to church, with my wonderful bathroom slippers, and without the bible I had placed on the center table earlier. Hmmm...but it seems the suit decided to steal the show, hence making me forget my well polished and shiny black shoe, or perhaps the phone call decided to play me...whatever it was, I never noticed this even after leaving my compound, and in no distant time, I was already racing to church.

While walk-running to church, I noticed a lot of people on the street were staring at me which got me staring right back at them, as if telling them "backoff I'm not familiar with your stares, neither am i scared of you.". Unknown to me that my bathroom slippers

were actually the ones stealing the show, and not even my look or suit....I had just assumed that the clothes I wore were very nice and an uncommon one, hence the cause of the unnecessary attention.
Soon enough, I was In church, and I was able to walk in exactly during the praise and worship. And trust me, I desperately wanted to kill the show, and dance the best showing my best suite and shoe to everyone in the church.

I danced vigorously in front of the church, hoping that will make my shoe very visible, unknown to me that my beloved shoe was seated in my house. Actually, I noticed everyone looking at me laughed and smiled, but lost to the dance, I smiled back thinking my dance step was what caused their laughter. Soon after, the praise section was over, and it was time for bible reading, where I was called to read out a particular verse...there an then was when I noticed I had forgotten my bible...well, trying to think outside the box, I decided to use my phone bible, and so I stood up and went to the front of everyone the second time, confidently with 'rich guy' smile on my face.

Without wasting time, I read the verse from my phone, and shortly after, left for my sit, but prior to my leaving the front, I saw faces with smiles, and some mild laughter, and it all seemed that again, was because of me but still I couldn't say what exactly was the cause for their laughter but just as I left for my sit, my pastor called me back and whispered "I love this your Americana slippers brother!". And that was when I noticed I wasn't even wearing my 'well polished shoe" but rather my tattered bathroom slippers.

Filled with shame, I walked really fast back to my seat, wishing I could reverse time, to when I was still at home, but then I believe it was already too late, and I had already displayed myself to the congregation right from the moment I entered the church. Well, the service continued, but people just couldn't help but look in my direction occasionally to recheck their laughing ability.

Immediately after the service that day, I tried to run home as fast as I could, only to be stopped by members of the church right at the church entrance. Many began to squeeze money into my pocket, and told me they wanted me to get a new shoe...they didn't even wait for me to explain how I ended up wearing slippers to church.
And that my friends was how I ended up being gifted for wearing bathroom slippers to church.
