A DJ By Mistake

I can still remember properly, this funny incident that happened a few months back. I was actually heading to my faculty for a course that late afternoon. I was drenched in sweat, but was unusually happy that very day, probably because my roommate promised to settle my evening meal.

Well, while I was jugging to the lecture venue, I noticed this little boy probably 4 to 5 years old, crying with so much energy, and that actually caught my attention...on a very normal and busy day, I most likely would have just waved sorry and move on, but that particular day, I felt like the best babysitter in town, and so I diverted to greet the mum, and ask why he was crying.

After the long speech from the mum, she still didn't give any specific reason, and so a brilliant idea came up in me— to play some nursery rhymes I downloaded a few days prior to that day, on my phone which at that time was connected to my bluetooth speaker, and hope that will calm his nerves. Well, I was totally right, because the baby focused on the cartoon characters on my phone, and held the speaker tightly, listening attentively to the song they sang...for sure the little Albert Einstein in me was proud to have even thought of playing nursery rhymes.

Well, I soon ran out of spare time, and had to be at the venue if I really wanted to gain anything from that class, and so I had no other option, than to turn off my phone and throw it back into my pocket, stylishly collect back my speaker, and bid the little boy good bye...well doing all this wasn't as hard as I imagined, and shortly after running a few more miles, I was at the lecture hall, sweating like a Christmas chicken, and obviously couldn't seat at the forefront of the lecture hall.

The only available sit was one just in front of an AC, and so I sat quietly, trying my very best to listen to, and understand the lecturer, but it seemed like the more I looked at the board, the less I saw meaning in his calculations, and soon enough, I fell asleep thanks to the AC.

Several minutes later, the guy who was sitting beside me beckoned me to help him check what the time was (it seemed everyone was conscious of the time so as not to spend even an extra minute after the scheduled time, as the course was obviously a boring one). Still having a sleepy eyes, I sluggishly brought out my phone which was still in my pocket, unlocked it, and boom, I became a DJ for a few seconds

thanks to my speaker which unknown to me was still connected to my phone.

The 'baby shark' song was so loud that it even attracted the lecturer's attention to my side and the sleep which refused to leave my eyes left me immediately. I tried turning it off for several minutes, but I guess it was already too late, as all eyes were already pointing towards me. It didn't take long for the entire class to blast into laughter. Annoyingly, the dude beside me, who asked for the time, laughed even louder than the others.

After several seconds, I was finally able to turn my phone off completely. And as the laughter subsided, I could feel my ears hotter than normal, and my cheeks turning red as ripe tomatoes. The lecturer, still amused, decided to use that medium to talk a bit about the latest DJ techniques. It actually was a small relief, but my embarrassment still lingered, and just after i thought the DJ joke was over, the lecturer, after some minutes, pointed at me who was already back in sleep's den, saying " Our DJ dropped a hit, and fell back asleep. " Hearing that, I jacked back up ashamed once again....I have never wished to be Mr invisible as badly as that moment.

Well, it didn't really go well for me because throughout that week, whenever anyone mentioned 'baby shark', everyone immediately began to look towards my direction, like I was the one who made the statement, and the most annoying part of the whole thing was that my roommate never sponsored my evening meal like he promised earlier that day, making me resort to cassava flakes (If you know, you know), after the stressful day.

Thanks For Reading.
