Djinn Muirat - the eternal battle continues

Intro

This is my entry #2 for this weeks Battle Challenge but with a different card as a focus as I just love my Gold Foil Djinn Muirat that I got out of my Pre-Sale Chaos League Boosters and search for as many match-ups as possible to play him with a good chance of winning. You might already be familiar with my reasons if you checked out my first battle challenge post.

Just looking at him already gives you a very powerful feeling as the art is beautiful. There is furthermore nothing better than opening a booster, seeing the rumbling legendary card, and then watching the revealed legendary card turning gold and converting ~6$ into ~300$:

So having a monster with the stun ability in your line-up would be very beneficial in this ruleset as each stunning monster takes 2x damage

Line-Up before Round 1

Strategy - Hometeam
You can see that I went with the typical death frontline tank Cursed Windeku as a good counter against enemy melee attacks backed up by Djinn Muirat to counter the risk of a magic heavy enemy lineup with his Void armor. Another staple in my line-ups is the Undead Priest because of his -1 Health effect. Filling the missing 3 slots are Silent Sha-Vi and my two ranged damage dealers Twisted Jester and Gargoya Devil to dish out the hurt. You can also see that I prioritize relatively high-speed monsters as I´m expecting high health enemies in this high mana cap battle and need a further equalizer.

Strategy - Enemy
He started with the typical death frontline tank Cursed Windeku as a good counter against enemy melee attacks backed up by another anti Melee monster the Disintegrator with -1 on melee attacks. He expected me to go with a more melee-heavy set-up. The next one is a pretty rare sight in Silver the Cthulhu as a magical damage anti-healing counter which also fails to impact the battle heavily as I did not play any healers. Rounding up comes to his damage-focused line-up of Tortisian Chief, Sand Worm, and Magi Necrosi. You can see that he put priority on high health and low-speed monsters.

Status after Round 2

Both of us lost us the Cursed Windeko in the first 2 rounds. The monster in the second position of both of us is now also down to 1 Health each. While in my line-up only the Undead Priest has taken damage further back, in his backline Cthulu and Sand Worm have taken damage.

Status after Round 3

Round 3 brought the end for my Djinn Muirat and my Undead Priest while my Silent Sha-Vi has already taken a bit of damage. The opposing side has lost Disintegrator and Sand Worm while Cthulu is very low on health.

Results

Take-Aways

• Djinn Muirat rocks 🕶

• You do not have to spend 99 mana to win in this match-up. You need the right strategy with a good synergy between cards to win against higher mana cost line-ups that do not synchronize as well as your line-up.

• In this case, my high-speed card strategy paid off, as the constant first attacks of my monsters managed to whittle down his health advantage and allowed me to gain the upper hand in terms of damage output over time

• For the next time I´m looking forward to adding a new high mana cost card to my death line-up after Chaos League general sale starts. Will probably look at Dark Ha`on as the high health and Taunt would have made a good substitute for Cursed Windeku. I also need a low mana cost summoner on a higher level to save in case another Silenced summoner rule-set comes up
