Hi Everyone,

are you tired of reading success stories, cool strategies and random battle posts for splinterlands? Are you maybe more interested in reading about others mistakes in the game to have a lough an avoid them yourself? This might be worth a lough for you.

This is the third post in this series. Please start with post 1 and 2 to get the whole picture:

My Splinterlands story started on Nov 15 which was 10 days ago without any clue on how to earn and how to play. You might say the smart thing would be to watch videos and read all these cool guides here in the community after using an affiliate link that would set you up with a decent amount of starting DEC.

This would be quite a boring post if this was my story 😅

Mistake #10: Don´t look at my opponents battle history in the opening screen

Why should I care what cards he played in the past, he will probably do something different this time

Mistake #11: Don´t take the time to understand the difference between a melee, ranged and magic attack

It`s an attack meant to damage. Why should there be a difference?

Mistake #12: Fail to think about efficient use of mana in battles

Bigger mana costs per card has to be better all the time then lower mana cost per card. Bigger is always better, right?

Take-Away for new Players:

  • Always take the time to look at your opponents battle history.

Everyone has some kind of habit you will be able to identify by looking at the history of the last couple of battles. E.g. your opponent always plays Water and he always goes with magic attack. Thats kind of very usefull information to base your line-up around. Or he always uses a specific monster.

  • Be aware that melee and ranged attacks will always have to reduce your opponents Armor first before hitting their health. While magic attacks will attack their health directly. Attention: This can be changed by the individual battle rules. Read these!

  • No bigger is not always better and there is no universal answer. It is important to think about the rule set of the battle and a balance in your line-up. Sometimes it can be more valuable to select 2 low level mana monsters instead of one more expensive card. This is especially true for special battle rues like "Health Equalizer" where every card has the equivalent health of the card with the highest health.

Be smarter then me 😉

Thanks for reading and if you give me a like, upvote or whatever I might be willing to share more of my noob mistakes with you. But no pressure and thanks for reading
