Splinterlands: Lower League Chests Are Best(s)

avatar

So some days ago I kind of went on a rant about Splinterlands rewards

Essentially I was saying that playing Splinterlands currently at gold and even diamond does not make sense from a financial perspective (mind you that many play it for fun, so that's of course a whole different angle!). Earning about 50 cents/hour doesn't seem too appealing for me and probably anyone. But in this post I want to report on my experience in playing in a lower league. This was basically the biggest hurdle in the transitioning to the new ranked rewards. Everyone was playing for the chests earned at his or her highest league. As they require much more Reward Points than the chests in one lower league this was frustrating to a lot of players as it meant not getting many chests. As I was "stuck" with diamond chests I could only get a bout 3-4 chests playing 1 or 2 hours! Not very great... But... now I am playing for gold chests and it is ... a lot better!

It really is a lot better. Getting one win now already gives me about 1 chest! This means playing for only 20-30 minutes can give me about 10 chests which is a great improvement over last season. And it seems that the gold chests aren't really that much worse than the diamond chests. Let's have a look:

So basically 5% less reward cards 0.5% less chance for packs... Not too exciting as we even get more DEC and potions in gold... The biggest difference is the gold/rarity boost which is 50% higher in diamond. That is a big deal, but it is also much harder to get diamond chests (at least where I am at). So if I get more than double the amount of gold chests that easily evens out the decrease in legendary and gold foil card chances. But this might be different for you if you can actually compete in a higher tier within the leagues. What it comes down to is this: play in the league in which you can best compete in; if you can reach e.g. diamond but tend to lose most battles and it is a struggle to get diamond chests play in gold!

It's really that simple, although of course it gets harder to decide if you are stuck somewhere in tier II of a league. But for me playing in a lower league seems to be paying off. I even got 2 legendaries in my last daily focus. Unfortunately I have to again stress that the cards currently are completely devalued as these 2 legendaries only were worth about $3... Not very exciting!

I am still hooked to the game

The future looks bright for SPlinterlands! I love how the team is delivering on everything that they have promies even if it takes longer than thought. We just got the annoucement of a new Splinterlands game and an update to the ranked rewards as well! And don't forget the implementation of modern and wild as well which will basically double the rewards...

So see you on the battlefield :)

I think the experience of playing in various leagues differs in silver III I have to win like 7 games to actually win one chest which isn't very great as well. My biggest win has been getting 540 DEC from last Season's chest. It's tougher down there. Good luck with this seasons reward in 5 days.

It really is a lot better.

I rented a few good cards in the previous season to reach the Gold III league, but the rewards did not even covered the amount of Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) I have spent on card renting. Maybe I rented the wrong cards. I do not know. Either way, I stopped playing Splinterlands for now (I took a break from playing), and I started to lease out a part of my Splinterlands card collection a few days ago. Currently it gives me 143.158 DEC/day out of 154.139 DEC/day listed // 31.33% yearly ROA. Based on the current average Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) price ($0.00091 USD), this is $0.13 USD per day, and $3.90 USD per month. The current value of my total Splinterlands card collection is $153.56 USD.

I keep leasing out a part of my Splinterlands card collection for now.

Good luck and have fun to everyone, who play Splinterlands.

that's actually not a bad return considering you card collection is only 150$! I would check back with modern and wild :)
