Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Best battle in my Splinterlands journey!

avatar

Introduction

Hello everyone! In this week's Social Media Challenge I'm going to feature the battle from this week - that in my opinion might be the best battle I've ever played in my Splinterlands journey! I highly encourage everyone to give this battle a watch!

Battle Ruleset

Featured battle allowed every element to be played except the Death element. Total allowed mana was 35, and Rulesets were: Wands Out, Armored Up and Holy Protection!

My Team:

Grandmaster Rathe was my ideal summoner for this battle because the +1 Armor and Void Armor makes every monster on my team able to take extra hit. Combined with Holy Protection ruleset, every monster on my team is basically able to take 2 extra hits before decreasing health.

Djinn Renova was placed in first position since she's got the highest health on my team other than Iziar. With Triage she is on healing duty, providing Iziar with 5 health points every round!

Iziar is the star of my team. Taunt with Void in Magic only rulesets is a deadly combination. On top of that, she also brings Martyr which has potential to further increase the stats of adjecent monsters.

Adelade and Grandmaster Rathe are like figer and nail, they are perfect combination for each other. In this battle Adelade will keep on Armor Reparining with a potential of dishing out some magic damage.

Time Mage was included because I had enough mana. She provides 2 magic damage for only 4 mana while further supporting my team with Slow and Rust abilities.

Battle Strategy

My battle strategy for this Battle was to make opponent's monsters unable to defeat Iziar. Djinn Renova is able to heal Iziar for 5 health points per turn, while Adelade is repairing Armor of one of my monsters every turn as well. I brought a total of 9 magic damage across my team in the battle, with a possibility of increasing that number even higher due to the Martyr ability.

Battle link

This is a lengthy battle that ends due to the Fatigue, so I will be including updates after every few rounds.

Turn 1

My opponent's team was crafted pretty well. Phantom of the Abyss as a frontliner with 6 speed, Flying and Phase, supported by Blind from Spirit Hoarder and with 2 Ressurects is looking pretty scary!

My team was unable to hit Phantom, and opponent's damage done on my team was Repaired.

Turn 3

The slow battle continues! Taunting Iziar is being healed to full each round, and Djinn Renova's Armor is being Repaired. On the other side, Phantom is unable to be hit, with occasional hit being Tank Healed.

Turn 5

The slow grind continues! As you can see, nothing happened in 2 whole rounds and the battle continues to the Fatigue!

Turn 10

Everything still looks exactly like 5 turns ago! The battle continues!

Turn 15

Everything still looks exactly like 5 turns ago! No progress made, but the Fatigue is almost here!

Turn 20

Deja Vu?

Turn 21

The Fatigue is finally here! My monsters have more health so I'm hopeful for a win!

Turn 22

A lot of monsters on both sides are getting pretty low on health! Spirit Hoarder goes down but is Resurrected right away! Let's see how the battle unfolds in the next round!

Turn 23

On my team on Djinn Renova and Iziar are still standing, faced by the Phantom and Oshuur on the other side! Fatigue did 3 damage to everyone, and will only continue to increase in damage!

Turn 24

The last 2 monsers standing are Iziar and Phantom! Fatigue will deal 4 damage to each monster at the end of the turn. If I hit the unhittable Phantom I win, otherwise, it's a draw.

Luckily, after missing whole battle, Iziar decided to take revenge and land the hit on Phantom, when it mattered - in the last turn of the battle.

Battle Rewards

Conclusion

This was my favourite battle in my whole Splinterlands career! My idea was
simple, to rely on Iziar's Taunt and Void and protect her with Triage and Armor Repair while slowly dealng damage to the opposing team. I didn't expect to see such an amazingly crafted team from my opponent. He/she decided that they were going to win without taking any damage at all! Luckily, in the end, I had a lucky hit and won the game.
