An idea for Splinterlands Souldbound reward card structure

There has been a lot of discussion around Splinterlands adding Soulbound reward cards to the game and I wanted to show my idea on how these cards could be structured.

So there has been talks about how these Souldbound reward cards could work, I've seen people suggest that when the card would go out of print, it would become tradeable/sellable on the market or the cards could be just burnable for DEC and etc.

I suggest that these Soulbound cards when out of print would stay out of print and no new copies could ever be printed. I also think that having these cards be burnable for DEC would be a good thing. Also I think it would defeat the purpose of Souldbound cards if these cards would become tradeable/sellable once they go out of print.

And my reasoning for having the cards be burnable is that most likely players will have leftover copies after the card goes out of print and that would be really frustrating to have laying around bunch of level 1 copies next to your level 10 copy that are completely useless.

So I propose this idea of either the Company of Splinterlands or the DAO offering out of print souldbound cards for rent for a fixed price.

So for example a new player joins and wants to use a Soulbound card that is not in print anymore, he could rent that card from Splinterlands itself (Giving a soulbound card
essentialy infite supply, but would also remove DEC from circulation, or give it to DAO)

Also for people who let's say got their Common Souldbound card to only level 6 and not level 10, they could rent level 7, level 8, level 9 or level 10 of that same card for
cheaper than those who don't own any copies or a lower level version of that souldbound card.

My suggestion is that Splinterlands as a company could offer these cards for these rates:
Common Souldbound cards base rent price - 1 DEC/DAY
Rare Souldbound cards base rent price - 3 DEC/DAY
Epic Souldbound cards base rent price - 5 DEC/DAY
Legendary Souldbound cards base rent price - 10 DEC/DAY

Obviously higher level cards should be more expensive to rent so I think that maybe each level could have a multiplier attatched to it
Level 1 - 1,0x
Level 2 - 1,1x
Level 3 - 1,4x
Level 4 - 1,7x
Level 5 - 2x
Level 6 - 2,5x
Level 7 - 3x
Level 8 - 3,5x
Level 9 - 4x
Level 10 - 5x

Gold Foil - 5x (If gold foil owned, this will not apply)

And for every level you have on that card already you get reduced the cost by the level multiplier you want minus the level multiplier you have
So for example you have Level 6 and you want a Level 9, so it would be 4x - 2,5x = 1,5x (of the base price)

A full example of 2 scenarios

Scenario 1:
Player has 0 copies of a soulbound reward card he/she wants to rent
he/she would like to rent a level 4 Rare card.
It would cost: 3 * 1,7 = 5,1 DEC/DAY
(Base price of Rare card) * (Multiplier for level 4) = 5,1 DEC/DAY

Scenario 2:
Player has a level 3 epic card and would like a level 5 Gold foil version
It would cost: 5 * 0.6 * 5 = 15 DEC/DAY
(Base price of Epic card) * (Multiplier of level 5 minus multiplier of level 3) * (Gold Foil) = 15 DEC/DAY

So if the cards could be burned, that could create a lot of DEC into circulation, but after their print they could also remove DEC from circulation through having the option to rent them for players who did not receive a high enough level copy of the card or no copies at all.

I think the rental market cannot have fixed prices. it should be based on supply and demand else there would be times these prices are cheap and times where they’re expensive

It absolutely would defeat the purpose. I'm surprised that specific suggestion has been brought up as many times as it has been without being completely shot down. We would see an initial benefit but be back in the same situation directly after the first set of Soul Bound Reward cards become tradable again. I think your idea is an interesting one but one that would hurt the ROI of those who decided to play the renting game instead of the actual game. Considering some of the biggest card holders/investors rent I don't see them voting in favor of your idea as it hurts their bottom line. However I do find your idea to be interesting and its nice to see suggestions that are not repeats of each other. Personally I would like to see Vouchers unlock reward cards of all levels. Let the price of Vouchers and demand of Reward Cards dictate at what level that will be for each card.

That sounds like an interesting idea as well, to unlock soulbound reward cards with vouchers. Vouchers do need to get more burn options as I think that voucher print rate is too high (Hopefully voucher print rate gets reduced in the near future as well)
