@savvytester took note that it is barely enough to pay $5 per month for a VPS to run a #Honeycomb node, so running a node for the DLUX, DUAT, and SPK networks requires more than one $5/month VPS. πΈπ€―π

For true decentralization, it's necessary to run our own nodes, like with Qortal. Hosting on off-site services is not something that I'd ever recommend. I wish Hive were as decentralized. πππβ¨π€

@savvytester knew that servers that are locally run are necessary for decentralization, though they just pointed out that running $5-per-month VPS instances (their specs in particular) are barely enough to run any #Honeycomb node !INDEED, not that they plan to host such nodes indefinitely (while the respective network is still up) on rented servers. π€―π€

Ever since all the #Honeycomb networks (DUAT, DLUX, and SPK) started having major technical issues that caused prolonged network-wide downtime, @savvytester started to get discouraged in testing nodes for the respective networks. π€― Even if for some reason they get "free" VPS hosting, they no longer found it worth the time to host such nodes. π€―

For wider adoption, running nodes needs to be simple and easy. Running a Qortal node is very easy, and it's getting easier all the time. πππβ¨π€

While it is already apparent (at least for me and @savvytester) that running a #Qortal node is (very) easy, there also comes the requirement to have a spare computer running 24/7 which requires additional electrical energy, network bandwidth, and replacement for components when necessary !INDEED. π§ββοΈπ€―π€

Yep, that's true, and it's par for the course with creating an running technological infrastructure and services over time. πππβ¨π€
