Be Careful To Not Be Predictable ⚔ Splinterlands

Being predictable can be a fatal mistake that can be made in Splinterlands as it will make it very easy for your opponent to beat you, so we should always stay alert and reflect on whether the strategies and compositions we are using are predictable or not.

There are 2 types of predictability:
Using a strategy/comp that combo with match's combat rules.
Using a strategy/comp that counters the match's combat rules.

Both sides of the coin are equally predictable but there is an advantage to the second case as it has a better chance of working when we analyze the whole game theory.

(I am so horrible at creating tables that it took me almost 1 hour to make one and I couldn't organize the ideas lol)

Let me explain this confusion I created. If a match favors a physical damage strategy and you choose to create a composition to make use of the benefits of the combat rules, you would be opting for what I have termed a "Combo Strategy". If you fall against an opponent who is using a "Counter Strategy" your chances of winning are low, and if the opponent is also using a "Combo Strategy" composition the outcome will depend on other factors.

If you do the opposite and create a "Counter Strategy" composition there may be 2 possibilities. Either the opponent also creates a "Counter Strategy" composition and the result is defined by other variables, or the opponent chooses a "Combo Strategy" and in this case you have the advantage of the match. Note that only in the second case is there a paupable guarantee of easy victory.

Battle.

In this match I wanted to take advantage of the Super Sneak rule by choosing several cards with high damage capacity that normally could not attack from the backline, however the opponent chose cards with Thorns to counter my attacks and amplified this counter with the Queen Mycelia that besides increasing the reflected damage still increased the armor of the enemies with the Protect ability.

My strategy was very predictable and was easily countered by the opponent. To be able to execute a "Combo Strategy" properly it is necessary to go for ignorance and create a composition so powerful that you can beat the opponent even being countered, but for this to happen you should not put yourself against the worst possible compositions. Using the above mentioned match as an example, if the Unprotected rule was also present I might opt for "Combo Strategy" because even if my monsters were killed by Thorns the very high damage they would deal might be enough to make me win.

Understanding the degrees of complexity and analyzing if it is really valid to use a "Combo Strategy" is a hard task and we don't always get it right, however always going for the "Counter Strategy" can be difficult if you don't have the right cards for it. There are always many points that interfere with the outcome of a match, but it is important that we are aware of them in order to improve our gameplay after each match. Are you being predictable when playing Splinterlands?

Yeah totally agree with your post, but its much easier said then done. Every match I go in I have a plan because I assume what my opponent will play. But assumption is the mother of all screw-ups (that's a saying in Croatian, I don't if its a bit lost in translation).

I really liked that saying because it really is true. In theory everything is easier xD

it depends of the cards that you have if the opponent have betters cards and some legendary summoners it will not be easy win, for example so much people play magic summoners vs me and i use yodin to win vs they easy GG :D

Winning using brute force is the best way around all of this!
