CARD REVIEW: PIRATE CAPTAIN

  • Estatísticas e Habilidades;
  • Distribuição e Preços;
  • Regras de combate;
  • Batalhas.

Alugar

PIRATE CAPTAIN
LEVEL 2
LEVEL 6
0,10 DEC
3,12 DEC

Comprar

PIRATE CAPTAIN
LEVEL 2
LEVEL 6
$ 2,00
$ 30,50

CARD REVIEW: PIRATE CAPTAIN

Continuing the idea of reviewing specific cards from Splinterlands, today I will talk about a card that will lead your physical units towards victory, this is the Pirate Captain.

This Water element unit has different functions depending on the level you use it and it can be a little difficult to choose it optimally due to the strange mix of skills, but I will try to make our choices easier throughout this post.

Let's do this approach in the following order:

  • Statistics and Abilities;
  • Distribution and Prices;
  • Combat rules;
  • Battles.

STATISTICS AND ABILITIES

The Pirate Captain doesn't have the best stats in the world, but considering his low mana cost he can serve as a good unit for very low mana matches available, using his Snipe ability to take down backline units that might be offering some support like healing or debuffs.

Its main evolution occurs from level 6, but if you can't use it at that level (either because you don't want to invest, don't have a summoner or not being in the proper league), at least try to use it at level 2 because you will get the +1 Damage boost that will make all the difference in your offensiveness.

Its main objective in these lower mana matches is to really utilize it to take down supports that are protecting the enemy tank, leaving the way clear for your composition to be able to eliminate it later. However if you have it at level 6 its function already changes completely. You will no longer need to use it only in low mana games as with the skill Inspire it will be very useful in compositions with many assassins or with rules that benefit physical units, but more on that in a moment.

DISTRIBUTION AND PRICES

ALPHA
BETA

The Pirate Captain has been in the game since the first editions and has two versions, the older (and more expensive) Alpha. There are very few units in circulation compared to the amount that were printed and if you are willing to invest in a higher level of this unit you can get discounts of up to 55%.

ALPHA
BETA

When looking at the price charts for the last six months of the Regular and Gold versions of the Pirate Captain of the Alpha and Beta editions, we noticed that both have been falling over the months (normal movement that the entire market has been executing) , but notice that the Alpha Gold version remained with very little price variation precisely because there are only 472 units in the game and only 5 of them are on the market.

Let's see in an easy way how much you would need to spend to rent or buy the Pirate Captain in the most suitable levels to use in battle.

Rent

PIRATE CAPTAIN
LEVEL 2
LEVEL 6
0.10 DEC
3.12 DEC

Buy

PIRATE CAPTAIN
LEVEL 2
LEVEL 6
$2.00
$30.50

Despite being so old and having few units, we noticed that its price is relatively cheap in the Beta version, being even an interesting purchase option to consider when evaluating current prices and the possibility of the arrival of a summoner that is interesting for archers which might come (random guess) from the Legion of Chaos airdrop.

COMBAT RULES

There are many rules that can match the Pirate Captain, but there are other rules that are only interesting if you have him at level 6, so I'll put them all in the same table and add the number 6 to the front of the image to represent that it will only be good at this specific level.

FAVORABLE

UNFAVORABLE

6

Being able to attack the back line with the Snipe skill can greatly enhance the explosive damage of Blast . The Little League will ensure that only low cost units are chosen, increasing the possibility that the Captain's targets will be more fragile units and susceptible to being killed by his snipe attack.

The other favorable rules are focused on the Pirate Captain at his level 6, because that's when he becomes a true captain and inspires all physical units increasing their damage. These rules make it possible for units with more powerful stats to attack from the back line, being able to choose cards with a lot of resistance and having the damage amplified by the Captain.

And while Snipe is an advantage it can also be the biggest weakness of the Pirate Captain as this skill will not always be functional and can even greatly disrupt your team's damage. Mitigating damage is not such a good idea in Splinterlands and it gets even worse if there are abilities that increase unit durability like the first two mentioned, being also worth mentioning the Equalizer rule . Wasting attacks on a secondary unit while all enemies focus your tank will definitely not be effective if there are too many rules protecting the cards.

BATTLES

Battle.

In this confrontation all elements were released and the available mana was low. No magic units due to Lost Magic rule I would be sure that the armor would be effective in this confrontation, so I chose to use the summoner Kelya Frendul to increase the speed and protection of my team and chose the Pirate Captain to be responsible for increasing the damage of the composition. This allowed three of my units to perform attacks with increased damage and managed to eliminate enemy units.

Battle.

In this match I also chose to use Kelya + Captain but for different reasons. In addition to Blast being a skill that suits Captain well, it allowed me to build a composition with three units in the back row with 2 attack (his buff increased their damage to 3, managing to potentiate their explosive damage from Blast). With all units dealing higher damage and still having the explosive effect amplified, it was pretty easy to take down the opponent's entire team.

FINAL CONSIDERATIONS

Care must be taken not to use the Pirate Captain incorrectly as attacking the back row alone can be a waste of damage that will make your team lose. However, using it correctly can greatly enhance your compositions, serving as a killer of healers, debuffs and other supports that get in the way, as well as being a damage booster for physical units from level 6 onwards.

Thank you so much to everyone who read this far, I hope you enjoyed it. If you like my content, I ask you to send your vote on the post and follow my profile so you can read future posts.
