Splinterlands: A 3300% more expensive lesson!🔥

avatar

Today, I purchased an Ultimate Loot Chest for the first time, which cost 10,000 Glint. To give you an idea of the value of 10,000 Glints to me, I earned that amount after playing approximately 130 battles last season. So, the decision to purchase this expensive loot chest wasn't easy, but I was still very excited while taking screenshots of the purchase process. This is because, according to the drop rates, there's a 39% chance of getting a reward card, plus an 8% chance of winning the jackpot, which together makes it close to a 50% chance of getting a reward card, including the possibility of the jackpot. And on top of all that, if you use potions, the chances of winning Epic, Legendary, and Gold Foil cards double. The remaining 50% chances include potions, merits, energy, scrolls, etc. But the main point, I thought, was that whatever the reward, it should at least be worth the amount spent. That's a logical expectation, isn't it? Otherwise, why would anyone even explore this option in the game? If this option is provided in the game, then obviously the developers would want players to use it; otherwise, what's the point of having it?

So I did my best, using Legendary and Alchemy potions, and the results from the loot chests shocked me. I felt incredibly unlucky after seeing the results; I can't even describe it. I've never felt so negative about Splinterlands before; this was extreme. After spending an entire season's earnings, I received only 3 Energy. Energy, which, as far as I know, you get 50 of for free every day and which automatically recharges every hour, is used to play battles. I'm sure many people aren't even aware of its existence because I myself have never been able to use up all the free energy in a single day. And if you ever do manage to use it all up by playing battles all day and need more, you can purchase one Energy for 100 Glint. So the maximum price of this mostly free item is 100 Glint. I received 3 for 10,000 Glint, meaning I paid approximately 3300% more for something I technically don't even need. My words can't do justice to how I feel. Two of my friends on Splinterlands recently told me they don't like loot chests; perhaps they must have suffered losses in this way, too.

To be honest, after seeing the results, I initially thought I wouldn't tell anyone because, firstly, everyone would make fun of me, and secondly, it's not positive at all, so why give my readers negative vibes unnecessarily? But then I realised that I share my real experiences on this journey in these posts, and everything doesn't need to be good. Secondly, the most valuable lessons are often surrounded by a bit of negativity, so you (new players) must know that loot chests are essentially gambling, because just like gambling, the chances of losing everything are highest here. If the game developers don't agree with this definition, I think they should also understand that whatever the reward in the chests may be, its value should at least be equal to the amount spent. Otherwise, what's the point of calling it a reward? And I don't think this is an illogical expectation at all, because, again, if the risk is so high, why would anyone even look at these loot chests? This would obviously render them useless in the game.

In total, today I paid 3300% extra and learned a lesson, after which I would definitely not recommend anyone to go down this street. The rest is up to your own judgment.🔥

Splinterlands isn't an easy place, but that's what makes it even more fun. A perfect strategy takes into account many factors, including stats, abilities, rulesets, mana caps, and more. That's why it's even more important to consider all these factors when developing a strategy. Add good cards to your deck, but also work on improving your strategies, and strive to win as many battles as possible!🔥

Honestly after all rewards chests went up in price I have stopped purchasing ultimate chests. I usually get all tier one chests for minor and major chests and sometimes nibble on ultimate which is usually crap like a bunch of potions.

Do keep in mind that as you get up in level energy becomes a lot more expensive:

As you can see it costs me 5000 glint to get one energy so that 3 energy is worth 15000 glint to me, so I would be happy to get that chest as I would be 5000 glint in profit.

I did bought once, and after reviewing other result as well, I decided no to buy them anymore. Better spant it on common card or rare cards instead.
