Splinterlands: Upgraded 3 cards to higher levels!šŸ”„

Since I didn't play Splinterlands much this season, I couldn't earn many rewards; consequently, I did less shopping, and fewer new cards were added to my deck. With fewer new cards, I had limited resources for leveling up, so—as far as I recall—this is only the second post of the season where I am actually leveling up some cards. Just a few days ago, I purchased 10 Common Draws; combining those with the cards won from completing daily challenges, I ended up with a total of three cards ready to be upgraded to a higher level.

The first card—which you can see in the image below—is a common ranged attacker from the Foundation set belonging to the Fire element. Until now, I only had it at Level 1, as I started playing in Frontier mode just two seasons ago; consequently, most of my Foundation set cards are still at Level 1. With a hefty mana cost of 8, it seems like a rather basic card; it possesses weak stats—specifically 2 ranged attack power, 4 health, and 2 speed—and lacks any armor. So, it has neither armor nor substantial health. However, upgrading it to Level 2 has added +1 health. While this still leaves the card relatively weak, it is an improvement over the previous version, so hopefully, its performance will now see some enhancement.

Today's second card is a bit better when you consider its mana cost. You might wonder why I’m focusing on mana cost—after all, it isn't a direct combat stat—but in Battlegrounds, you have to select cards within a specific mana cap. Since conditions in Splinterlands constantly shift, you can't always rely on the same set of cards; while it would be ideal to always get battles with a high mana cap, that isn't the reality. Therefore, I believe you should have some excellent low-mana cards ready to be summoned in any situation. Take this card, for instance: it costs only 5 mana and offers 2 ranged attack power. Although its health is quite low, it starts with 1 armor at Level 1; now that I’ve upgraded it to Level 2, it has 2 armor, providing decent protection.

Another card I leveled up today is the 'Stonebind Matron'—a common Earth element card with magic attack power. This attribute offers a distinct advantage, as magic damage bypasses armor to strike the enemy's health directly, unlike ranged or melee attacks. Additionally, its 'Opportunity' ability allows it to target the weakest enemy, significantly amplifying the impact of its attacks. Although its mana cost is quite high relative to its stats, its superior speed and magic power enable it to strike first in battle. Consequently, I frequently use this card in 'Modern' battles—the format I currently play—to suit my strategic needs. Previously, I had this card upgraded to Level 2; today, upgrading it to Level 3 grants it an extra +1 Health. Now I’m ready to purchase Rare Draws using the Glint earned this season, so hopefully, I’ll soon have some Rare cards that can be upgraded to higher levels. šŸ”„

Splinterlands isn't an easy place, but that's what makes it even more fun. A perfect strategy takes into account many factors, including stats, abilities, rulesets, mana caps, and more. That's why it's even more important to consider all these factors when developing a strategy. Add good cards to your deck, but also work on improving your strategies, and strive to win as many battles as possible!šŸ”„
