Splinterlands: Day 9 - Earth Quest & First Rented Card

Earth cards are quite nice and powerful cards, but it seemed to me I was losing too many battles in the attempt to complete today's quest.

I had only two earth summoners at my disposal (the ones given for playing to every new player by default).

Besides default monsters from the earth and neutral collection, available for every new player, I had one card more (Pelacor Mercenary) that we got the other day as a reward for completing the daily dask.

Still, it seemed like this extra card wouldn't help me win the battles, or at least, I don't know yet how to use it properly.

I couldn't get rid of the feeling how something crucial that would help me win was missing. I started to think about what type of ability exactly I would love to have. The answer, "renewable health," hit me right away.

Therefore, I started to search around for the card inside the earth collection with such ability. I found it, but unfortunately, only on some higher level, and definitively not on level 1.

As I don't have any summoner on some higher level that would support some other higher leveled monster, I had to give up on that card and continue searching for another solution.

Then my eye gets caught with another card that might help in renewable health direction, and that's how my first card rental happened.

First Rented Card

Wood Nymph is a reward, a common card from the Earth Monster collection that costs 4 mana, has only two healths, only one magic attack, and it's extremely slow (1), but it has that renewable ability.

In the combat, it's functioning in the following way.
When its turn comes, this card will renew a portion of the monster's health standing in the first position, and it would keep doing that for each round.

At first, I thought of buying it, but unfortunately, at the moment it's too expensive for our pocket. So, I took a look at the rental market where I found it for the price of 0.500 DEC per day and decided to rent it till the end of this season, or for the following 12 days what cost us 6 DEC in total (12 days x 0.500 DEC = 6 DEC).

Day 9 Results

Although, in the end, Wood Nymph certainly helped me in the completion of the daily quest, I also found out that it's a very vulnerable card being highly targeted by opponent's monsters with Opportunity & Snipe abilities what might easily cause of losing it even before it would be able to perform its restore ability.

However, on Day 9, 29 battles have been played in total with 14 wins and 15 losses, our ratings raised by 76 points, and in the reward chest, we received 30 DEC what was 5x bigger compensation for our first card rental.
