Splinterlands 2026: Starting My Journey - My First Guild Brawl

Intro

As discussed in a previous post about last week was going to look into joining a Guild and attempting to take part in a Brawl (with my meagre card collection lol). I was able to find a Guild that would have me 'Hybrid', and got entered into my first ever Brawl.. it was an interesting experience!

Wrapping my head around the Brawl mechanisms wasn't too painful, and correctly got my user entered into the ruleset that was closed to Foundation Cards mostly, so off we go!

Brawling...

I'd been told about Brawling, there's every chance of coming up against some properly hardcore opponents, so expectations were managed early on.. that being said, somehow I managed to pull a few wins out of the bag! woohoo! :)

First Brawl Win!

Convinced the algorithm was being kind to me here, but it'll take it anyway, it put a smile on my face.. A lot of the other Brawls the opponent pulled Gladiator cards and such, so there was no way I had a chance but this particular Brawl fight, the odds were far more evenly matched.

Battle Strategy..

  • 'Equalizer' is part of the ruleset, so don't get carried away adding a high health card so that the opponent gains an advantage if their cards are all originally low
  • 'Blast' is also part of the rule set so I don't want any attacks going near my backline, instead draw them to the front with taunt and sandwich in high health/armor cards to soak up the blast while the backline goes to work..

Battle Execution..

  • Strategy appeared to be working early on, but a lot of damage was taken, by the end of Round 2 it was pretty much even stevens.. the decisive move came early on in Round 3, where I was able to take out the last of my opponents melee damage.

  • Once Vengeful Monk fell there was nothing left but Archer units that could quickly be picked off! :)

  • Game, Set & Match! First Brawl win under my belt :)

Overall Brawl Outcome

The final outcome from my first Brawl, in my own personal opinion was pretty damn successful! Learnt a new facet of the game, gained some more experience, and made a whopping amount of $SPS for a new player.

  • This $SPS is now auto transferred into Battle rewards, and then ultimately claimable.

Slightly annoying that this 15 $SPS can then only be claimed and auto transferred to Staked $SPS but then obviously it could be unstaked and spent as required after the 1 month cool down.

I'm inclined to leave it where it is and look on it as a neat source of revenue so it puts less stress on my decisions of how to spend the New User Spellbook 3.5k Credits, win win! :)

Onwards & Upwards folks!
