Match the Enemy's Attack with "Counterspell" - A Splinterlands Battle Mage Secrets Challenge Entry

Life is a warfare and we fight battles every day. Some battles are physical while some are fought in the invisible realms of the mind, within. In all, knowing the right strategy and leadership guarantees victory. This is why I find matching warfare and battle quotes each time I share my experience with Splinterlands battles. The game means more to me than just fun.

Sun Tzu is one of those profound authors when it comes to the leadership and strategy of warfare. He had a rich practical knowledge and feat. Without a doubt, He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight."

The Counterspell battle ruleset is a special one. Winning battles with this ruleset places a demand on knowledge. This is why Sun Tzu said "If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle."

Those lines are really deep and show that a battle is far won if there is sufficient knowledge of the armory of the enemy which would trigger the use of sufficient counter forces.

The counterspell battle ruleset provides that all units receive the magic reflect ability at the start of the battle. Enemy units that attack with magic receive damage back.

Within the ruleset, the damage returned equals the damage of the attacker divided by 2, rounded up. Also, Magic attack units with the reflection shield ability do not take damage from reflected magic attacks. Players must be wary of monsters with the "amplify" ability because they will take increased damage.

Drawing this battle with the counterspell ruleset with just 16 manna cap limited my chances of fielding my choice monster units. My best monsters are magic attackers, but this was a "no" for this battle. Alongside Kelya Frendul summoner, Hardy Stonefish (1), Chaos Agent (1), Deeplurker (6), and Feasting Seaweed (4) were selected for the battle. They were all melee attack monster units. I paid attention to their attack stats.

At the end of the first round, the enemy team lost one monster. That was a green light to victory on my end, however, the one last monster in the enemy team was quite strong, with a "shield ability" to reduce the damage from my melee attack monsters.

At the end of the second round, my team lost another monster. Deeplurker did a good attack from the rear with a whopping +3 melee attack damage.

The Counterspell battle ruleset wants to see the true strength of your attack and health count. The higher the attack stats and frequency , the clearer the winning chances.

My team won the battle and it was an exciting win with three monster units still alive and active. The counterspell battle ruleset calls for more melee attack monsters and this means that having a good count of armor would be of help. Thanks to the summoner for making my monster units gallant in that aspect.

What has been your experience battling with Counterspell ruleset?
