A Double Barrel Defense with "Born Again" Splinterlands Battle Ruleset
Born again is one Splinterlands battle ruleset that caught my attention at first sight. It took so long to draw this ruleset to experience how it feels. The ruleset defines that all units receive the Rebirth ability which allows them to self resurrect once. These are two powerful abilities given to monsters - Rebirth and Resurrect. The Rebirth ability provides that when a monster dies, it will self-resurrect with Health once per battle. The Resurrect ability provides that "when a friendly Monster dies it is brought back to life with 1 Health. This ability can only trigger once per battle. The monster is resurrected with full armor."
I couldn't tell what really inspired the addition of this battle ruleset and ability in the splinterlands battle game. While in my thoughts, I remember the popular quote “You only have one life, so make it count". The quote is a call to maximize every day and every moment to one's advantage without waiting for tomorrow which is only promised and may never come. However, many after losing a unique opportunity may be by carelessness, neglect or ignorance, do still have the providence of having just one more chance to redeem their image. Such moments are rare moments that must never be joked with and no matter how short could mean a lot.
Relating to the "Born again" ruleset, a monster rebirth with one life is already a big thing for the battle especially when the monster can have an opportunity to attack before being attacked again. With the resurrect ability added, a monster that had a good armor stat at the start of the battle comes back with full endowment that I call a a Double Barrel Defense.
Battle Strategy
Drawing the born again battle ruleset came with a high manna cap of 35. That gave me the opportunity to line up a full stack of 5 monster units for the battle including Serpent of Eld (7), Nerissa Tridawn (9), Merdaali Guardian (3), Ice Pixie (2), Scavo Hireling (3) and Deeplurker (6). The batle was summoned by the water bound Kelya Frendul that adds +1 speed and +1 armor to all friendly monsters. The enemy team was also made up of 5 monsters summoned with thorn-giving summoner.
It was a very fierce battle that lasted for 7 rounds. I felt I was going to lose due to the thorns ability possessed by all enemy monsters. Thanks to Merdaali Guardian monster unity with the Tank heal ability that kept replenishing the health of the first monster. See screenshots below.
