Never go for a Fight "Unprotected" - A Splinterlands' Battle Mage Secret Challenge Entry

Safety First!

Safety consciousness is the first protection against the adversary!

In my first year in the university as an Engineering student, Safety courses were just the first in line. I can vividly remember the words of the old professor who taught us, saying he who works safely will live to work another day. The words dropped so heavy in my heart and they stayed. However, there were moments when those tips were forgotten and the consequences were regrettable. One of the frequently ignored safety tips was failing to read instructions before starting a job, simply because I felt I knew the processes at a glance of the topic. This safety slip looks so minimal until a big defect is caused.

Drawing a Splinterlands battle with the Unprotected ruleset didn't sound so serious and I damned to read the details of the ruleset and went quick to choose my choicest team all because it was a 99 manna cap battle. Unknown to me the unprotected battle ruleset demands that all armor is removed from units and one cannot gain armor. However, Shield and Divine Shield are unaffected. My best battle Summoner is Kelya Frendul which adds +2 armor to all friendly monsters. This is just a negation for the battle ruleset.

Fielded for the fight were my most used and acquainted monster units - Serpent of Eld (7), Flying Squid (7), Nerissa Tridawn (9), Diemonshark (8), Merdali Guardian (3), and Deeplurker (6). I've literally understood the best placements for these monster units and they've been used together to secure hundreds of victories in my Splinterlands gaming adventure. However, this time, they were the worst team I could ever field because I ignored the battle safety warning.

Aside from fielding a summoner that is boosted by armor, II had concentrated on the attack stats of my team without considering the health stats especially since there are no armors. total of 33 health counts was batting against a team with a total of 69 health counts. Besides, the enemy summoner boosted its monsters' health with +2 each leaving my team with a "disadvantaged" less than half of their health. At the end of the first round, my team had already lost two top and attacking monsters. Having just 4 monster units against 6 was already hard. By the end of the second round, we lost another strong attacking monster Nerissa Tridawn. At this point, staying through the third round was just a miracle. It took just a few strikes to sniff life out of the last monster unit in my team. All monster units were killed while the enemy team was still intact. It was a sheer waste of the high manna cap that was allotted for the battle.

It was a devastating wreck for my team and a flawless win for the enemy team. I think it's the first battle I lost 6 top monster units in a duel without destroying any single monster in the enemy team. It was all my fault. Very faulty strategy that cannot be tried again.

I caused harm to my team simply because I neglected the safety rule of reading the instructions carefully. Safety consciousness is the first protection against the adversary. Good lesson learned the hard way.
