The Splinterlands battle game is an interesting fun adventure with loads of lessons and inspiration for life, business and success. Defining the best combination of factors for battles and under different rulesets or battle conditions would make a player a better business person. While some battle require a goo defense, others require an offensive attack and in other times, we just need a balance od both.

The Explosive Weaponry battle ruleset is a special one, it takes a keen observation to know how to plan your tactics to win battles under the defined conditions of the Explosive Weaponry ruleset. This ruleset provides that All units gain the Blast ability. Additional damage is equivalent to main damage divided by 2, rounded up.

A strong guard against excessive damages in the Explosive Weaponry demands that a player include a unit with Reflection Shield in the lineup to absorb blast damage and protect your back line. But where you don't have the Reflection Shield, go for an offensive attack. Let us learn why!

The description of the Explosive Weaponry battle ruleset is a case of injure one, injure all. That is, "an injury to one is an injury to all" as it is popularly said. The ruleset provides that an attack on an enemy monster, spills over to the adjacent monsters. This means the adjacent monster units become injured by association.

On the part of the attacker, the Explosive Weaponry satisfies the "kill two birds with one stone" ideology. It takes a lot of courage and daring character to want to accomplish two different things at the same time or solve two problems with one single action. This requires an offensive "rugged" and daring approach to life.

I've lost lots of battles with the Explosive weaponry ruleset, until I drew this battle, having understood the Offensive attack strategy. The 22 manna cap battle gave me opportunity to select four monster units - Hardy Stonefish (1), Nerissa Tridawn (9), Deeplurker (6), and Ice Pixie (2), summoned by Kelya Frendul.

The Offensive Attack Strategy

Two units in my team were magic attack monsters which allowed them attack from any position and aimed for the health of their targets. The other melee attack units had abilities that enhanced their attack from their position. Deeplurker for instance has the Opportunity</b. ability which allows it to attack from any position and targets the enemy unit with the lowest health.

The only unit in my team without an ability was Hardy Stonefish and I had to place it in front so that it can attack. The idea in all was to be sure that in each round, all my monster units must attack so as to farm the "blast" effect that damages the adjacent monster. This is what made the the first round of the battle so long.

By the 16th turn out of 20 in the first round, the enemy team lost two monster units, one by direct attack from Deeplurker and the other through blast effect.

The battle ended at the 10th turn of the second round when the enemy lost its lead monster unit.

My team still had three monster units left on the battle field after winning the battle.

Strategy Summary

We won the battle with the Offensive Attack Strategy and that would always win every battle under "Explosive Weaponry" Ruleset. Here's the code:

  • Select active attacking monsters with good attack counts
  • Get a summoner that gives your team some level of Defense incase the enemy is up for an offensive attack too. Kelya Frendul summoner added +1 armor to all my monster units.
  • Be mindful of the positions of your monster and be sure they can all attack irrespective of their positions.
  • never have an idle monster in your team for an "Explosive Weaponry" except it is there to boost the attack of other monster units.

With the above outlined strategy, I ensued that each attack from my unit counted and it injured another. It is safe to say that my attacks were all doubled. Everything was just offensive that the enemy team could not just miss a single blow. Even with a dreadful leading monster, we won nearly flawlessly.
