Splinterlands Recent Developments and the Motivation to Stake More SPS

(Edited)

Everything that happens in the Splinterlands ecosystem revolves around Splintershards (SPS), the governance token. Even related projects like Genesis League Sports (GLS) and others that would come in the future has a way of linking its way to the SPSP economy. Thus, SPS represents the most bullish asset in the Splinterlands ecosystem though presently in a deep bearish market level alongside other cryptocurrencies. That notwithstanding, strategic observation would reveal that the Splinterlands developers are keen about adding more use cases to SPS and that projects a strong bullish aspiration for the token , may be not in the near term.

Patience is a key virtue when it comes to crypto investment as years of bearish losses could be swallowed up by a single month of peak bull market. I 've personally witnessed this about twice and that informs my positions in bear market seasons as this. My categories of interest in the blockchain and crypto sphere are SocialFi, Play2Earn, DeFi and NFTs in that order. The first two being the priority since is has to do with earning crypto with skills and activity rather than buying. I've help strongly the tenet that it is better to earn crypto than to buy it, especially as an early adopter.

Splinterlands interestingly fits into the four categories that Interest me in the blockchain and crypto space. Foremostly a play to Earn NFT game, engaging Splinterlands helps me to earn cryptocurrency by playing games. The first of earnings I made with the free to play mode helped me to buy my own cards. These cards used in battles are NFTs and appreciate/depreciate in value depending on use cases. Being built on the Hive blockchain, Splinterlands players can share their experiences with the game play and features on Splintertalk a social frontend, and earn cryptocurrencies ($HIVE, $HBD, $SPT) and other tokens in the process. Splinterlands assets like DEC, SPS, VOUCHER, etc., are pooled on Hive's layer 2 tribaldex, being a DeFi opportunity.

Recent developments in the Splinterlands ecosystem as announced in the last Townsquare AMA predict a bullish Splinterlands economy which eould have a trickling effect on the the SPS markets.

  • Rebellion Presale which started on Wednesday, October 18th, at 2:00 PM ET / 18:00 UTC in the Splinterlands shop. This new card edition in Splinterlands comes with improved stats and abilities and features which will improve gameplay and gaming ROI.
  • Improved utility for VOUCHER tokens used for discount in Rebellion presale purchase.
  • Forced demand for DEC which is nearing soft peg price due to Rebellion Presale.
  • Planned card burning event early next year which will eat through the over supply of cards in the ecosystem.
  • Lands 2.0 development.
  • Incoming New player experience featuring Boss fights and Battles 2.0.
  • SPS Validator software .
  • More promo cards and mini sets in the future.
  • Improved collaborations with other Web3 communities for cross promotion.

I could only track Nine (9) of the many development advancements that has the potency of bringing new players to the Splinterlands game, increase in the demand of Splinterlands assets and overall improvement of the ROI for investments in Splinterlands.

My goal for SPS staking was 10k before the year 2023 ends but I now have the need to get more SPS tokens as this might be the moment to get this valuable GameFi asset at a highly discounted and cheap price. Staking SPS gives me staking rewards while keeping my token from the markets ahead of the bullish season that is coming.

I successfully staked 92 SPS which brings my total SPS staked to 4,424. This is below 50% of my staking target but I believe in investment by drops and bits. Every addition counts but the effect is geometric since my staking rewards are compounded.

This is not an investment advise, but are convincing facts that SPS is a bullish crypto. What are your thoughts? Do you think these developments would have any effect on the SPS economy? If yes, how long?
