$DEC Recovery and the New Phase of Splinterlands
Barely few days after the sell-out of DEC-B, the price of $DEC has received a boost as anticipated. Remember that every Splinterlands player that bought DEC-B token was actually securing a slot for a 20% profit since each DEC-B tokens were sold for 0.8 DEC. As at the time of that trade, DEC was trading at around $0.00077. That was already 3% profit upfront is a player bought DEC to purchase DEC-B. Decent 23% APY on DEC-B looked so cool!
It's been pretty surprising to see #DEC today at $0.0009. That means we're 10% away from the ideal peg price of $0.001. $DEC token, short for Dark Energy Crystals is the in-game currency token for Splinterlands play-to-earn NFT game. DEC is earned through gameplay or by burning unworthy cards in a player's collection. It can be used to buy NFT packs and all sorts of items in the Splinterlands shop!
$DEC was designed to a soft pegged price of $0.001 USD. Though this stability has not be is not applicable in the open market such as on hive-engine, or centralized exchanges but within the Splinterlands game, $DEC is valued at the peg with 1,000 DEC treated as $1 USD. The Splinterlands team has been very intentional with creating more usecases for the DEC token to help it regain its peg and serve its purpose as the stablecoin of the Splinterlands ecosystem, while also providing for the rise of the governance token - SPS.
DEC Won't be Enough for Land's Demands
Splinterlands CEO, Aggroed in a Discord message after the sellout of DEC-B pointed out that DEC price would rise with the launch of "The Secret of Praetoria". This is because there is provision for staking DEC in Lands and that is a robust usecase for DEC.
Gratz to @everyone and now you may want to consider getting DEC while it's under Par, and when it gets to Par you might consider getting some SPS cause hey, you can always burn it for DEC. It turns out that once The Secret of Praetoria is out we're going to collectively need to stake so many billions of DEC that the actual amount of DEC doesn't even currently exist. Source
Aggroed keeps saying that the available DEC token is never enough for the demand that Lands would place. Being that the price of DEC cannot go beyond $0.001, further demand for DEC would lead to burning SPS ad that would also help the recovery of SPS. SPS is central to the Splinterlands economy and every rise in SPS means a rise in value of the entire Splinterlands economy.
The New Phase of Splinterlands
The Secret of Praetoria has placed Splinterlands again in the spot light of Play to earn NFT games after the flush out of bot players in the game that drastically reduces the daily transaction and activity count in the game.
The updated roadmap of the game above shows how keen the team has been with hitting milestones. We are hopeful that within the next two months - April and May, we will be having SoulKeep go fully open for all. lands is shaping up and it might be more smart to buy lands on Splinterlands than physically (lol).
I see a new phase in the Splinterlands game growth and journey. This would be marked by the entrants of new players and investors and it would be so nice to see as the economy of Splinterlands go green again.
How much DEC do you have?
Splinterlands game is termed the "next generation of collectible card games" in which allows players to collect, trade, and battle with provably scarce digital collectibles with real-world value. Battles on Splinterlands Unlike most trading card games, are fast and furious, and are usually completed within few minutes. The Splinterlands gameplay is simple and easy to learn viz: reviewing combat rules, making and submitting of the team and watching the battle unfold.
