When the Leader is "Silent" - A Splinterlands' Battle Mage Secret Challenge Entry

Summoner are a essential components for any playable Splinterlands collection, as they summons a team of monster units for the battle. I see the summoners as the battle Commander or commanding officer of the battle. The silenced summoner ruleset provides that summoners do not give any buffs/debuffs or grant/use abilities. This means that players can use their lowest cost and highest level summoner within the ruleset. The goal here is to reduce the manna consumption by the summoner to allow for the best of monster unit selection.

The silenced summoner ruleset reminds me of two powerful quotes from anonymous authors that portray the strength of a silent leader. First, it is believed that a silent leader speaks volumes through their actions, leaving an indelible mark on those around them.” That means that when the leader is silent, there is an undertone communication in the action of silence. Going deeper, we will agree that “in the silence of their presence, quiet leaders inspire others to find their own voice.” This is where the heart of the message lies. A quiet leader's goal in his silence aims at helping those (s)he leads to find their voice.

It's like a father that says to a son he wants to be proud of "do it as if you were alone". Sometimes when we are under supervision, we may be scared to explore our innate abilities because we may feel we would be wrong. however, that does not negate the fact that there is a great strength in everyone that is waiting for the right moment to be unleashed.

My Battle Experience and Strategy

Drawing this battle with a whooping 36 manna sounded so good and I felt I'd have the space to stack up the battle line with my best of cards since there'll be no summoner effect on the monsters. I had to settle for the set of cards I thought I've known how to use over the months of my experience in the Splinterlands battle game. Choosing Kelya Frendul water card was just to help me reach to the beautiful warrior in Nerissa Tridawn (9) in company of Merdaali Guardian (3) and Deeplurker (6), which are my favourite cards. The lead monster for the battle was Serpent of Eld with the dodge ability. Here's a complete array of my monster units for the battle are as follows in the screenshot:

After the first round, I lost the monster at the end of the first round of the battle, I lost one monster unit. Reason for that loss was low health count and no armor. Proceeding into the second round, I lost another monster, reason too was low health and no armor.

I was able to make some super strikes in the third round of the combat and successfully destroyed one unit in the enemy's team. We both lost one monster each in the fourth round. Amazingly, I observe that I kept losing the last monster in my lineup.

Obviously, the outcome of the battle revealed that my strategy was not good enough. Without the summoner effect, I should have stacked monster units with high health and armor stats. Also, a weak attack can also affect the outcome in a combat with silenced summoners.

Put together, Silenced summoner ruleset tests the efficacy of a player's strategy in balancing good attack and good defense for a battle. My team was lacking in this good strategy and it was visible in the poor outcome of the battle result.

The silenced summoner ruleset would also test the quality of monster cards owned in one's deck. It is evident that some "powerful" monster cards do draw their strength from the buffs/debuffs or grant/use abilities of the summoner.

I lost the battle, however, if I have the opportunity to draw that ruleset would better my strategy to win.

Have you played this battle ruleset? what were your observations? Which was your best performing monster unit? Let's learn together.
