Briar Patch Strategy | Neglecting Melee Monster Cards

It is time of the week again for the the battle mage secret challenge but before that, my journey this week on splinterlands have been kind of busy for me especially since we are already taking a big step to advance in our brawl section to tier 4 so I had to start practicing more and also getting some fund available which I will be using in renting cards which I will be adding to my collections, we just hope to take a very good spot continuously majorly 1-3 position then we might be thinking of advancing to the next tier if possible, it will surely require a lot but I believe we can also achieve that. Checking out the rule set theme given for the week which is the Briar Patch rule set which give all monster cards the thorn ability.

I do call this this anti-melee rule set because that thorn ability always dealt -2 damage back to any attacking melee cards, I kinda hate the rule set somehow since I won't be able to use melee cards unless I decided to use the shield ability which do reduce the damage receive or just use reflection shield to prevent the whole counter damage, at times it do work out but most times, I just switch to all magic attack strategy and make sure I use strong magic cards if I want to pick water element or use owster with the magic reflect if I want to pick death element since I also know my opponent won't want to pick melee cards in this kind of rule set beause it will only put in at high disadvantage and at times I always amplify it to increase the counter damage.

I had this battle with macaroth90 in a 55 mana capped battle with the Equalizer ruleset which equalize all health based on the monster card with the highest health, briar patch which is the main ruleset and lastly is the are you not entertained which allow us to pick one extra gladiator card in the game. I know the briar patch will surely made my opponent to change his strategy and probably use more magic cards so I went all in with magic cards and make sure I picked some abilities that will surely be against magic cards. I picked Baakjira as my frontline with the void ability which reduce magic attack and also has slow, strength and healing ability, supported it with prismatic energy with the magic reflect and void ability, this cards is also one deadly anti magic cards, picked Djinn oshannus which is also deadly because with the phase ability it can dodge some magic damage. I had Runemancer kye in my collect at that time and I had to pick it up mainly because of the leech ability which receive +2 health anytime it attack, also Ruler of the seas with the blast, swift and silence ability and lastly is the captain ghost with the affliction and oppress ability, I really don't want my opponent frontline to heal at all.

Even though my opponent brought out his good cards, I was more against him than he was against me, he use the wrong monster but kelya still give him +1 speed and with his swift making 2, I reduce it with baakjira slow and also use swift which make us balance, I use silence to also reduce his magic attack while I increase mine, this really weaken him a little bit. With all this combo it was really hard for him to penetrate my force, he wasn't able to defeat baakjira talkless of destroying my other cards, I won the battle free and fair, what do you see to this strategy during Briar patch rule?
