Do You Still Use Magic Card During A CounterSpell Ruleset?

Lot of things is currently ongoing and about to happen in the splinterlands space, like a bigger updates which we are kind of curious about but just the leaderboard part still seem confusing to me, maybe we will be back to the olden days setup where we only have 1 leaderboard, we move through leagues easily based on the rating, it was tough back then and I know it might be tough this time around because we will be seeing more tough players and with the update people will surely move up their rating and won't be willingly to stay at lower rating, it will be a new system kind of thing.

it is time for the week splinterlands battle mage challenge and the ruleset given for the week is the counterspell which give magic reflect to all monster cards which mean whenever a magic card deal damage, that particular card will dealt damage back to the magic cards, I really see it as a enemy to the magic cards at some point unless you decided to use some particular ability just to reduce the attack received and that ability is the void ability which reduce damage received from magic monster cards directly and indirectly and to increase such damage you can easily pair it with some amplify ability which increase the damage dealt back. When ever I see this rule set, I do make sure I don't use anyhow magic card in such battle except the card get void ability and also have have strong health and that depend on the mana capped given

I had this particular battle with Bayo with 21 mana capped with just 2 rule set, counterspell which is the main ruleset and the lost legendaries which prevent us from using legendary cards in this particular battle, we could pick between water, earth and dragon element so I picked water since I'm not planning to use any magic cards so I just decide to go with melee cards since we have just 21 mana to manage. I picked diemonshark as my frontline because it is one of the strong melee cards out there, support it with tide biter with the reach ability, I had to use sneak based cards so I pick pelacor bandit and uraeus and lastly furious chicken to take any back damage.

I was kind of surprised seeing what my opponent brought onboard, a gladiator based summoner and also use a gladiator double strike card with sneak ability, well play. The gladiator card really performed well but his first two cards where that strong enough to hold the frontline position, before his gladiator will dealt any serious damage, I was able to destroy his first two cards and then destroy his gladiator cards and won the battle. What do you see to this strategy, do you still use magic cards during a counterspell rule set?
