Adapting to Modern: Learning Integrating Foundation Cards Into Your Battles Part 13

Prelude
Greeting to all, how are you this lovely midweek, hope you are doing really fine and welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern and we are coming into the 13th post for the foundation cards. With the launch of the foundation card set, it is evident that these cards will somehow become part of the available cards that we can play during normal ranked battle and truly I use them in my ranked battles. If you follow what I share on my weekly Splinterlands posts on match sharing, there are quite a number of foundation cards that will somehow creep into those lineup which means they can also perform in ranked battles. I am happy to share that I have gotten a copy of the common jackpot frontier card. This week was a little dry with no new jackpot cards coming into the collection.
For me, these foundations cards are important because they give newcomers a decent push to strengthen and expand their collection until they have sufficient DEC/SPS or through other methods of capital injection to purchase main set packs or buy cards off the market that can truly elevate their lineup in ranked battles. In this series, I will be deep diving into various foundation cards that we can obtain from playing frontier matches and opening foundation packs.
Foundation Set Cards
For the deep dive and analysis, I will be discussing about the growth of the cards and if they are able to synergize with modern cards to aid you in your ranked battles. This time round, assessment and recommendation will be within the card's own paragraph than having a segment on their own, so take note in the structural change in the post. Let's begin today's sharing.
Giam Root

Let's begin looking at the foundation card, Giam Root. This is a 9 mana range card with loads of health. And because it is a legendary card there is only 2 levels with the range attack moving from 1 to 2 the only difference between the levels. Speed wise it is decent and most importantly, the card carries strength ability which I would say is a good complement with the +1 health given by the earth foundation archon. This allows better survivability and help create a bigger base for stronger healing.
In terms of growth for this card, this is a no brainer as the 2 damage at level 2 will help bring your gameplay even stronger otherwise, you probably would find that picking another range attacker with slightly lower mana and hitting for more seems like a better choice. So hopefully the wait to get a levelled up copy of this card will not take long.
In terms of rating for this card, based on a score of 5, it will get about 3.1/5. This card can serve as a strong meat shield upon main tank falling and the strengthen of the whole lineup is really what makes this card good. But it must really get to level 2 otherwise, the impact of it is really just scratching opponent lineup.
Twice Yester Knight

Now let's look at a card from life splinter as we have completed earth splinter, Twice Yester Knight. This is a card that grows in other stats other than attack and slowly becoming something that is hard to take down and will become the natural choice for tank for life splinter. At lower levels, it might be not as good due to low speed but when this card is maxed, that is where she truly shines.
The growth for this card slowly increases the armour and subsequently the health till the final level where she gets a boost in speed and also gain shield. And that is where she becomes a great tank for life splinter with good armour, health and also shield as an ability.
In terms of rating for this card, it will take a rating of 3.0 out of 5. And similar to previous card, in order to get the rating of 3, it must be at max level because that max level separates the card apart from all previous levels gaining that shield really makes a huge difference and will also no longer be at 1 speed which will be bullied by other faster cards.
Wrap Up
Though most of the foundation cards need a little more mana that cards from the main sets, when they come into the matches, they help to fill mana gaps in our collection that we are lacking or when there is just this odd mana or two that you cannot field anything. Be sure to make full use of them, synergize them with your other cards from the main sets or reward cards, make them viable and win matches so as to earn more glint as we continue building up our collection. Do also take note of the bloodline to see how you are able to get them some boost from their fellow bloodline cards as well. Hopefully this series of post will help new players learn more about these foundation cards and improve their gameplay in ranked battles as they grow and affirm the footing on Splinterlands.
Let's continue to grow and find path in modern ranked battles as we journey on playing Splinterlands.
