Adapting to Modern: Learning Integrating Foundation Cards Into Your Battles Part 4

Prelude
Greeting to all, it is mid week and welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern. With the launch of the foundation card set, it is evident that these cards will somehow become part of the available cards that we can play during normal ranked battle. And if I am not wrong, set can be rotated out, but foundation sets will stay in tact since they are supposed to be foundation.
For me, these cards have their value in help newcomers to strengthen the collection until they have sufficient DEC/SPS or other methods of capital injection to purchase main set packs or buy off the market for cards that can truly elevate their lineup. In this series, I will be deep diving into various foundation cards that we can obtain from playing frontier matches and opening foundation packs.
Foundation Set Cards
For the deep dive and analysis, I will be discussing about the growth of the cards and if they are able to synergize with modern cards to aid you in your ranked battles. This time round, assessment and recommendation will be within the card's own paragraph than having a segment on their own, so take note in the structural change in the post. Let's begin today's sharing.
Echelon

Let's begin looking at the foundation card, Echelon. This card quite honestly is almost like another Ember Roast Sow. They are a myriad of other choices for opportunity card. While indeed it can qualify Little League, there isn't much other application to it because it will get stuck at 1 melee damage.
Growth potential as mention above is horrible. This is an epic card, but it will grow exactly into the exact same stats as Ember Roast Sow. I would expect more to come from an epic card and not to be the same as a rare card. While many can argue that opportunity is a better ability than sneak, but nevertheless, without damage scaling, I see no excitement in this card and will definitely fall down the pecking order in terms of similar cards that have way better stats than it. Take a look at Torch Vizier, so much better in terms of growth in stats.
In terms of rating for this card, based on a score of 5, it will get about 1. I have penalized Ember Roast Sow previously, so no way I can give a better score than it. This is really potentially the most un-used card for epic tier. Hoping that this card can get some form of rework.
Agniavan Salamander

Now we look at another card from Fire splinter, Agniavan Salamander. This is the only legendary card from fire splinter in the foundation set. Generally stats looks quite ok with a pity that it is only 1 range attack but having the ability of blast. With its high speed, it is a good ability to blast onto your opponent early and maybe take out some stray cards along the way. Not as crazy as legendary cards from main sets, but I think still rather decent.
In terms of growth for this card, legendary foundation cards only have a much smaller room to grow at only 2 levels, but only gaining 1 additional health by going to level 2. Not much growth opportunity for this card.
In terms of rating for this card, it will take a rating of 2.9 out of 5. While it decent with the blast, the lack of growth on a legendary card that is hard to come by is a little disappointing especially we will need more copies of it to level up. This card bring a seaprate dimension to fire splinter and will come in handy during those range only match up. But it is still way better than Echelon for sure.
Wrap Up
I have seen many foundation cards being used in modern ranked battles and doing well, overcoming even cards from main sets. Make full use of them, synergize them with your other cards, make them viable and win matches so as to earn more glint as we continue building up our collection. Hopefully this series of post will help new players learn more about these cards and improve their gameplay in ranked battles.
Let's continue to grow and find path in modern ranked battles as we journey on playing Splinterlands.

The salamander has good health and shield, too bad the high cost
Would be perfect if 1-2mana lower.
This Echelon I also rarely use. Or rather I avoid using fire if I can.
