Battle Mage Secrets: Holy Protection - Multi Attack Rocks

Hi all, hope all is well for you and it is time for another Battle Mage Secrets. Last week, we looked at a ruleset that is relatively harder to pull off due to not many cards having Stun ability. Today, we look at a ruleset that gives a free shell to your cards as it reduces the damage of first attack to 0.

Holy Protection

Description:

• All units gain the Divine Shield ability which reduces the damage of the first attack received to 0.
• Divine Shield will be re-applied when a unit is Resurrected.
• Blast damage will remove divine shield.

What thrives with this ruleset?
On this ruleset, everyone gets a free divine shield that can take one attack. So how to make use of this is utmost important. How fast you can strip away that shell will allow you to start damaging your opponent.

The ruleset suggest blast which is really good. Though it is like a stray damage, but it still strips the shell and allow access to opponent card. One of the best way to remove that divine shield.

However, if you don't have blast, all is not lost, there are other strategies to handle this ruleset. To guard yourself against blast, you can consider adding Reflection Shield to your lineup as well. Divine Shield is not the only kind of shell that is there. I always like to fall back on one of my favourite ability that is very useful for almost any ruleset. This ability is Protect, which adds 2 armour to every card on your lineup. So now, you have one free shell from the ruleset and another free shell from the protect. To make it even better, regenerate the armour using Repair to keep your card alive longer.

Another thing that I always like having is actually double attacks, this is because you can use one to wreck the shell, then the next to actually damage the opponent's card. So double strike or having 2 kinds of attack will be wonderful.

Before I forget, Resurrection is always good too! Since Divine Shield is regenerated after resurrection.

Next will be the stats, stats wise as usual, the higher the better. For me, special emphasis should be on speed so that you strike earlier.

With these in mind, let's start to talk about the battle proper.

Thaddius Brood	4	Summoner	I was expecting more magic to come, so I picked this summoner to reduce magic and health.
Harklaw	8	1st	A strong tank that has shield and relatively high armour to hold up the front line.
Djinn Muirat	9	2nd	Another good card that contains Void Armour that can hold up as a secondary tank.
Ravenhood Warden	4	3rd	Card that gives protection to the lineup and will complement Divine Shield.
Lira the Dark	7	4th	Fast hitting range attack, though no opportunity here, but one mean range striker
Raa	12	5th	Scatter, Flying and Double Strike, this is a beast and will do well in this match I am certain
Witch of Warwick	5	6th	Since there is fog of war, might as well plant this at the last and start Life Leeching to become bigger and bigger.

Prediction before pressing rumble
Whew, a full magic lineup. Looks like my additional armour will not be fully in handy other than boosting the resistance of Djinn Muirat. Otherwise, I am expecting my range attackers to showcase their prowess.

Let's battle!

Battle Synopsis

Round 1, Thankfully Harklaw has high enough health to sustain the front, while my backline smash onto Helheim Demon. I am worry too many magic attack for me to handle.

Round 2, Harklaw fell to all the damage from the mages. Raa strikes and kills Venari Bonesmith. Djinn Muirat holding strong and I hope it can hold off longer to sustain the backline.

Round 3, Lira lands the fatal blow onto Helheim Demon while Raa starts taking out more backline Divine Shield. Should be able get better while Muirat continue to hold the front.

Round 4, Lira smashes Revealer, then Raa does a double smash on Moxian Rebel for the kill. And Djinn Muirat still going strong.

Round 5 and 6, it was just picking up the scraps with Lira and Raa dishing out all the punishment and finishing off both Life Sapper and Uludin Overseer. Victory secured and a nice win!

Post Battle Summary
Wow! Raa was absolutely creating chaos everywhere and doing nice damage with the double random strikes. Lira was another beast that lands damage everything she strikes. Love how the match turn out!

Did my strategy work? Yes, while it did felt a little worrying when Harklaw was hit by all the magic cards instead of it facing a melee, the remaining cards held up well with the protect and the various attacks from Lira and Raa that pulverize through my opponent. Not forgetting how the scattershot just wrecks all the divine shield everywhere else and then the double strike just clears out the lineup.

What's the Battle Mage Secret?

The Battle Mage Secret today is clearly how Raa having that Double Strike is doing so much work in the match. The scatter is so good with it opening up opponent Divine Shield, and with double strike, it has an opportunity to strike something to death or open up 2 shields. So essentially, Raa is the star of the match, while Lira also did a fair share of striking early.

Raa's double strike is already scary on its own which clears a Divine Shield and then striking the next, But with scatter, it just creates a shield clearer like how blast does it. One of the best for this ruleset if no blast in lineup.
