Battle Mage Secrets: Target Practice - Planned Detonation

Prelude
Hi all, a week had passed us by and it's time back for another Battle Mage Secrets. Last week, sharing was on arsenal restriction on Taking Sides. This week ruleset sharing will be a ruleset that has been there for a long time.

Ruleset Spotlight

Target Practice
All ranged and magic units gain the Snipe ability.

What thrives with this ruleset?
For this ruleset, we know non-melee cards will become vulnerable, hence placement is very important, the sequence of each non-melee cards is also important.

If you a strong non-melee card, you can opt to place it right at the spot after the melee cards so that if any snipe attack lands, it lands there instead of other crucial cards. Cards such as Djinn Oshannus make very good snipe absorption due to the abilities it has together with the high health it got. Else, need to find ways to enhance these non melee cards through void, void armour, armour etc to prolong their survivability.

An alternative method that will be in my sharing today will be a planting a sacrificial lamb or detonator. This is where Martyr and Redemption comes in handy. By knowing where the damage land, this 2 abilities can be planned accordingly to give the biggest benefit, boosting the lineup or killing off low health opponent cards.

Before we go into the battle, stats wise, health to me is utmost important as that will determine if you can survive sufficiently. Then followed by speed so that you snipe before your opponents do.

With these in mind, let's start to talk about the battle proper.

Prediction before pressing rumble
Malric Inferno, wow haven't see this card being used for a while. A very hard hitting deck from my opponent. But they never saw my detonator coming.

Battle Synopsis

Round 1, We are off to a flying start. Venari Marksrat detonates, boosting Renova and Marisol. In this round we saw Serpentine Spy and Fire Elemental getting taken out.

Round 2, Things move real fast. Lava Launcher was taken out followed by Renova and Time Meddler on my end. We are down to only melee cards surviving.

Round 3 and 4, It's the melee boys battle where finally Marisol stood tall in his boosted stats while remaining cards all were taken out.

Post Battle Summary
Quite an interesting match where the non-melee cards were taken out so quickly early in the game and it is up to the remaining melee cards to fight it out. Thankfully my cards were boosted due to a timely planned death of my Marksrat.

Did my strategy work? I am so glad it worked so well. Typically in a match that is filled with melee against a Fire Splinter, it will be an uphill battle. However in today's case, when Marksrat was killed, it gave my team the much needed boost stats to help push the team through to the end. Every card had it's value of existence in the lineup from boosting health, giving thorns, taking opportunity, sustaining bacline line and finally the sacrifice to give the team the boost.

What's the Battle Mage Secret?

The Battle Mage Secret to share today will be that, knowing the ruleset targets the non-melee cards, so why not use it to my advantage to let Martyr be planned rather than by change. Most of the time when encountering snipe, strategy can be either be towards sustaining non-melee cards or using taunt. But today I am using the fact of sniping to let it hit my Marksrat which gave my team the much needed boost to last till the end against a heavy hitting lineup and worse so, being overlevelled compared to my lineup. There is always 2 sides to a coin, why not study the coin thoroughly and use the side that gives more advantage to your gameplay.
