Rebellion New Ability: Armoured Strike

It's been a while since the pre-sale of Rebllion, the 5th core edition for Splinterlands. How many packs have you swoop for the pre-sale?

After a long stable phase, the meta is going to rock again with the impending arrival of Rebellion which consist of 96 cards of which 2 are promo cards that are only able to be minted during the pre-sale and 9 Legendary cards that will airdropped from a completely new system which encourages players to hold on to their Rebellion packs and cards.

Since Rebellion is upon us soon and we know that there will be new abilities being introduced in Rebellion, I will want to deep dive into these abilities one by one. Today, I will start with the ability Armoured Strike.

Armoured Strike
Any unit with this ability gains an ADDITIONAL Melee attack using its Armor stat. This allows characters to improvise with deadly force, using their gauntlets, shields, helmets, or perhaps physical attributes (spikes, hard shells, etc) as weapons!

Very interesting description that brings a physical meaning to the ability.

Now, this essentially creates a new way of fighting but based on prediction the likely situation will be the following:

Cards with Armoured strike should likely be:
Melee attacker with armour stats
Non-functional in Keep Your Distance and Unprotected ruleset.

One thing I am not certain is whether this will available to cards with no attack but with armour stats such that they become a melee fighting option.

Another thing that I am uncertain is if this ability will be given to range or magic attackers that have armour stats and make them a dual attack card like in the case of Lava Launcher. Imagine that 6 armour become 6 melee and it evolves to a double attack card.

Possible Ability Synergy
I believe Armoured Strike cards will get scarier when boosted with Protect, since the Protect ability boost the armour which essentially giving more attack stats. Queen Mycelia and the various Protection crew will become the boosters to this ability.

To keep the high attack stats, Repair becomes very essential. Because upon getting hit, armour will get reduce and there goes the additional attack stats. Hence repair will help keep the armour stats higher or replenish it. The Life Splinter repair crew is known for their mad repair loops.

Lastly will be the Shatter ability. This will become very useful to break the boosted armour attack stats with just a single hit. Immediately upgrade the usefulness of this ability and makes Immortalis the nemesis to this ability.
