Share Your Battle: Legionnaire Alvar

Prelude
Hello everybody, it's time again for Share Your Battle. Unfortunately, I didn't get any fire focus for the whole of this week so instead of sharing Antoid Platoon, I have decided to share on Legionnaire Alvar.

Thoughts on Legionnaire Alvar

Seeing double? The first time I see Legionnaire Alvar, it reminded me of Heimdall from Thor. And the attire and pose looks so similar or even almost the same. Will Legionnaire Alvar be the protector to my deck like how Heimdall protects Asgard? We will see it later in our battle.

Let's examine the base stats of Lvl 1 Legionnaire Alvar.

Bronze League - NA
Silver League - Giant Killer
Gold League - Armour + 1, Demoralize
Beyond Gold - Health + 1, Deathblow

A thick armour with void armour skill is scary. It diverts all magic to its armour and Legionnaire Alvar has a super thick armour to begin with. As it levels up, it gains Giant Killer which allows Legionnaire Alvar to stand tall against bigger units and smash them hard. Subsequently, demoralise is gained which it even more viable to take down its thick armour. Death blow is amazing especially on some pesky last creatures.

I rarely hear people discuss much about Legionnaire Alvar but as far as I see, this is a monster not to be reckoned with.

Prediction before pressing rumble
Another week of Life vs Water. Each side has it's own strength, hard to tell who will claim victory from first glance.

Let's get ready to rumble
Round 1, Everything in tact but Serpent of Eld is dangerously low in health. Armour from Legionnaire Alvar endured a great deal of punishment.

Round 2, Serpent of Eld taken out, Adelade repairs Legionnaire Alvar's armour for further sustenance. My side all is well.

Round 3, Flying Squid smashed but my Disintegrator has been sneaked to death by Sand Worm. Water Elemental also get taken out.

Round 4, Sandworm cleared. The armour of Legionnaire Alvar with Adelade's continued repair really help sustain wel.

Round 5, Everything else smashed and we secured victory.

After Thoughts
Last week we shared about how good Adelade's repairing skills were and this week again we see how she helped Legionnaire Alvar sustain through the match.

Legionnaire Alvar shone this match, take a whole deal of damage from the front line and the 2 range monsters from my opponent. It stood stall at the end of the match and showed how sturdy it is as it protected the lineup, effectively becoming the Heimdall to Asgard.

What I think is good about Alvar is about the void armour. With the thick armour, he does not fear melee or range but with void armour, even magic is not a concern to him. One thing to note is that Adelade's repair is very critical for Alvar to be at fullest potential.

Now it comes down to whether to choose Alvar or Shieldbearer which is an equal awesome tank for life splinter.

Some things to take note on Legionnaire Alvar is that:

• Legionnaire Alvar is neutral, which means he can used for any colour splinter but subjected to the rule set that prevents the use of neutral monster.

• Legionnaire Alvar is legendary, matches where legendary cannot be used, it becomes another problem.

It is a rather torn decision between Alvar and Shieldbearer as both are equally good. Did my strategy work for me in the match? Yes it did especially it is odd ones out. Will I play Alvar again? Most definitely!

I am also considering to snap up a Legionnaire Alvar in the market when the opportunity arises. Will you?
